Just curious

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about the signing of Vaughan and just wondered how the players already at the club find out about new players during the close season. Do they just have to read the net or watch TV like us(or stake out Asda) or do they get contacted by the club to be told. I don''t suppose the strikers already at the club would have their nose put out of joint by a new striker signing but you never know. Anyone know how they find out?

I''d expect at the end of the season, the players and management would have sort of a debriefing of the season.  A chance for everyone to assess whats happened, what could''ve been done better, how they can improve and then the players would perhaps be informed of when the management think the team needs to be strengthend.  I cant see that the players would be told of too many targets, but maybe a few, but just generally where the gaffa will be looking to strengthen.  Then one someone does come in, i would expect some sort of message would be sent to the players.  In this age though, there press know as quickley as anyone anyway and with twitter, and email as well as the good old dog and bone, theres plenty of ways to distribute information.

This is not official, just how i''d imagine it would be done, or along those lines...

It is clear from rumours that turn out to be true that many of the staff at the club are aware of potential players being shown round, and the staff talk to each other.

So most know what sort of players are interesting PL. It''s difficult to keep it absolutely quiet.

Those facing new competition will be told by staff or players, even before the signing is complete.
