Andy Larkin 15 Posted March 9, 2009 Generally, a lack of pace… not in the players legs, but the speed with which they move the ball… always one touch needed to bring it under control, by which time the momentum has gone. Swansea were a great example of how to play pass and move, one touch football. In particular, the midfield and the full backs. The midfield are too similar unless Matty Patty is put in there the only lad that looks to drive forward IMO. The others do not have the drive or the nous to change / dictate the game. No-one has since Francis left.Full backs, well what can you say? Ive been spoilt by Bowen and Culverhouse. Sadly, only Steeno, Eddie (and Helveg when he could be arsed) have managed to fill the role adequately… the current crop aren''t fit to be described as footballers. It gets worse when they stop the ball and then do a little half circle - a clingan, fozzy and patty speciality.

It''s the speed with which we move the ball (or rather don''t) which is killing us, and giving the forwards little chance. It''s no surprise that our only successful striker this season is Lita whose mission was simply to run the channels on his own, use his pace and aggression and be as selfish as he wanted. This negated the need for the others to have to do anything more creative than sit deep and bang it over the defences heads for Leroy to do the rest.
K Lo 235 Posted March 9, 2009 I''d have to say it''s just those between the two goal posts on the pitch and those on the bench.
Chunky Norwich 0 Posted March 9, 2009 The defence as a unit are shocking. No-one taking responsibility, ballooned clearances, no marking, ''clearing'' headers that fall onto the feet of an unmarkered opposition striker twenty yards from goal....Take a look at Blackpool''s second - or any of the goals we''ve conceded to be honest - and tell me that''s not relegation-form defending
