Indy_Bones 444 Posted November 29, 2008 It''s true, we actually have a top class strikeforce here at Norwich - shame that it''s never used. What am I talking about you ask? Well I decided to do a bit of work on player stats this season, and discovered that aside from Wolves, we have the best striker partnership in the league - based on goal per game ratio and taking into account minutes played.Lita - 890 mins = 9.8 games = goal every 1.97 games = 23.4 goals for a full seasonLupoli - 516 mins = 5.7 games = goal every 1.43 games = 32.2 goals for a full seasonSo based on season stats so far, we have both a 20 goal as season striker, and more impressively, a 30 goal a season striker. Admittedly both are loan players, yet Reading seem happy for us to continue having Lita on loan (and may consider a perm deal), and Lupoli is here for the season. What we just need now is for Roeder to play them together and ignore this whole target man nonsense. Man Utd managed quite well last season without a target man, and although their squad is miles away from our own, the principle is the same, play the right way and to the strengths of the players on the pitch and you don''t need a prescribed set of players or style of play.Lita''s pace, along with Lupoli''s skill and positional awareness could be a lethal combination for opposition defences to deal with, particularly if we can get the wingers cutting in to support them instead of crossing.Based on these stats, it really does make you wonder why Sibierski is getting the nod over Lupoli, I think only Iwelumo has a better ratio this season... steve b 0 Posted November 29, 2008 I agree with that but Roeder will play Sibierski today because people who live in Glens real world know that Sibierski is great,

Indy_Bones 444 Posted December 6, 2008 Will we see these two together against Ipswich on Sunday I wonder, or is it likely to be the same nonsense again of either playing a single striker, or playing Sibierski as against Lupoli?
Matt Morriss 69 Posted December 6, 2008 I think Roeder has finally realised that playing Wes Hoolahan in his preferred position, where he played so successfully last season for Blackpool, will actually be our best attacking formation.Shame its taken him 3 months to figure it out.
