New Corner Taker?

Recommended Posts

With all the new players coming in, do we think we may have finally found a decent corner taker amongst them?! Bell, Hoolahan, Clingan (I think even Bertrand had a few attempts last season).........anyone know if any of these are set-piece specialists?

It''s one thing (of many!) we''ve really lacked over the last decade, someone who has the ability to put a decent corner into the box and create havoc. Fotheringham doesn''t do a bad job, but a bit more consistancy is long overdue!

From what I''ve heard and seen, Clinghan is supposed to be an amazing free-kick taker and I think we all know HooliHoop can create trouble in the box with his crosses. Also, Fotheringham was good last season at corners.

It all comes back to my new favourite buzzword for describing our

new-look squad - options! So much of our play in recent seasons has

been predictable and we''ve failed to cope with

injuries/suspensions.  Our midfield and in particular the number

of players who can pass both short and long is much better than in a

long time...

Might have a bit of competition from set pieces this season!

When Clingan signed he was said to be a set-piece specialist, especially free kicks, yet Fotheringham has done well based on pre-season reports from corners, providing Russell with a perfect ball the other night against Falks.

Hoolahan''s delivery causes a hell of a lot of problems... at last it looks as though we have a number of strong dead ball takers, will be interesting to see this unfold
