What would your first choice midfield be ?

I must admit I do not know too much about Clingans style of play but given that we no longer need to compensate for Huckerby on the left I think I could go 2 wide as follows.

Croft/Chadwick (if Fit) Russell Clingan Hoolahan

With Fotheringham or Pattison on the bench

I dont really understand why Fozzy was made captain and hope he isn''t again this season.

I cant really put my finger on my problem with Fozzy its just he seems so invisible most of the time.

i''ve got a feeling Clingan will be poor. Dont want to moan about him before i''ve seen him play but for that reason with our current team this would be my midfield.

I seriously hope Chadders gets fit and stays fit this season, he is far better than Croft when it comes to making and taking chances.

The reason i say Clingan over Russell, is they are similar in the way they play in midfield, both tacklers and both good passers so now you have to take into consideration - who will score more goals or set up more goals.

Personally i think Clingan is a very good set-piece taker, and we have seriously struggled the the past few years from corners and free kicks, i think the right foot of Clingan and the left foot of Hoolahan will give us much more depth from corners and free kicks etc, yet Russell will probably score more goals from open play - what a muddle Roeder has to sort out! Will be an interesting one to watch unfold though :)

Think Chadwick will shine this year if he can stay fit. Unlike Croft I think he wants to score and he could be a welcome surprise to the side after a low key contribution to date. Croft''s position may be in doubt if he continues to fail to find the net. Agree about Fotheringham - I fear he may be more fizzle than fizz, but let''s see how he starts - he''s sure to have a good run out in the team and he''s had some good games as wella s indifferent ones. Unless he''s sold, there''s no reason why Russell should not continue to figure in Roeder''s plans. No comment on the new recruits - but I hope they are more exciting and consistent than Pattison.

Give Pattison his due he always gives 100% and I would like to see him on the bench to come on if we are in a tight spot.

I hope that we will not continue with our one wing project this season but it is yet to be seen if Chadwich will be fit or Croft upto the job
