The Doc 0 Posted May 1, 2004 I was quite sad to read today that the legendary Sammy Morgan has left the youth academy after about a decade of serving city. Anyone who has met him or indeed went to Lynn Grove High School when he was teaching there, will tell you how much of a decent bloke he is. It''s sad to see him go just as we reach the promised land as I''m sure he''d love to see first hand the likes of Jarvis Hendo and Shackell making their first prem appearences. Thanks to Sammy for helping develop such exciting youth prospects for this club and all the best for the future.
The Doc 0 Posted May 3, 2004 Wasn''t made clear why. His contract was expiring in the summer, perhaps he just wants to retire finally or maybe Worthy has his eye on a big shot new coach to take over the academy in the prem.
NMTD 0 Posted May 3, 2004 Top rumours I''ve heard as replacement for this....Ian Crook - fairly obvious choice that oneDave Williams - apparently no longer at Man Utd
Bryan Gunn 0 Posted May 3, 2004 Wouldn''t say no to either of those guys being involved again but its still a bit sad that sammy has left!
paid up seasonticket holder 0 Posted May 3, 2004 I agree it is very sad that Sammy has left. He has seen the Academy through all its ups and downs and I think it is very sad that he cannot now reap the rewards of the Premiership and see the lads he has brought through perform there. Why was he not at the ground yesterday to say his farewells, like Iwan and Paul, and indeed to do the presentation to the youth player of the year - surely he should have been allowed that honour? Morph 31 Posted May 4, 2004 How about big Iwan as a replacement?I guess the only downside is that he wants to keep playing. Alternatively, bring in Ian Crook as chief youth boss and have Iwan as his assistant.
Tufnell Park Canary 0 Posted May 4, 2004 It is indeed a shame that sammy has left the club. I was at Lynn Grove High School in Yarmouth when he taught there and he is a decent guy. I hope he hasn''t left the club on a sour note.
NMTD 0 Posted May 7, 2004 So Dave Williams it is then - thats one prediction right.I wonder how many of the player ones are going to be right too?
