Croft, Fotheringham, Russell, Pattison and Huckerby

Recommended Posts

We have 5 midfielders all competing for 4 positions.   Given the choice, who would you play and where? and who would you drop and why ?

OR would you sacrifice a striker to accomodate all 5 of them in a 4-5-1/4-3-3 style.

At the moment i would go with:-

Croft   Russel   Fozzy   Pattison

It gives us a hard to beat, strong midfield four. This approach has helped us improve no end, and although im not his biggest fan croft deserves a chance. Huckerby at the moment is best used as an impact player from the bench, he''s struggling for form at the moment; if he can get his form back or find a way to cope with his loss of pace then he''d be one of the the fist names on the team sheet, at least at home anyway.

I would never play one up front. I think it sends out a "we are happy with a draw" message and I do like to see two strikers forming partnerships, Sutton/Shearer, Rush/Barnes etc.
I''d play Chadwick in there somewhere personally.
But he''s out for 3 months following surgery and doesnt stay fit long enough to be added to that list.

i don''t rate croft at all but we have no other right winger, so  i would play 3 central midfielders and 3 strikers

       Russell       Fotheringham           Pattison

Cureton                Dublin                Huckerby
