Rabbit

size does matter

Recommended Posts

I`m talking big club, little club, do we stand any chance this season, coz its not only the opposition we playing, its the ref and his two assistants, lets face it they always seem to favour the so called bigger teams. a few Watford fans i met last season back this point up, they said its not only the penalty and free kicks the big teams seem to get in their favour, but the fact that they are also more keen to hand out the yellow and red cards to the smaller teams, is it only me that thinks we won`t get a fare rub of the green.....

Bring on Collina, I say. If he is allowed to referee in the Prem then maybe the scenario you describe, Rabbit, will lessen to a degree as other refs would surely learn more from his approach, and I feel pretty sure that he wouldn''t favour a team just because of its so-called size! Anyone out there agree (or not)? I certainly wouldn''t mess with those eyes!!!

I''d love to see some stats on this from the last couple of seasons, to see whether its a myth or reality. Anyone?

I don''t think it makes much difference to be honest Rabbit, except when the home crowds at the big stadiums get onto the ref. And I''ve seen the odd dubious penalty handed to Norwich over the years when the Barclay has got onto the ref. And remember West Hams Etherington getting sent off infront of the snakepit? My point is dodgy ref decisions usually equal themselves out during the season.

As for refs, I''d welcome the great Collini into the Premiership next season. Maybe he could teach the national embarrasment Riley how to referee. The guy is useless.
