Practical hints for Sutton

Recommended Posts

How Worthy will not consider a pay as you play contract is so furstrating, by that measur if it does fall falt what have we lost? Be a good PR excercise for a managing already struggling, this guy seems to enjoy frustrating us fans! Rant over!

What can we do on a practical front to get him to come?

Chris Sutton chant at Leeds would be funny and p**s Worthy off!!

Wear old retro shirts with his name on.

Any other ideas...

How about stay at home and instead of trying to motivate the club into

having a good season, you sit and wallow in old Sutton memorabilia

singing songs about the good ole'' days, and how all this used to be

fields...Hang on, it still is...

I guess it''s easier to harp on about the ''glory days'' instead of

getting stuck in and supporting the current team, so that they might

have an f''ing chance of getting back to them.

God I''m sick of hearing this Sutton rubbish.

It wont work. I''m afraid Worthys mentality is the more we go on about something the more entrenched he becomes. Havent you noticed that when someone is having a nightmare game he takes someone else off? Almost two fingers up at the fans and I think he''s behaving the same over this affair. I think he is probably a Taurus.

Well for a start don’t forget your past because it makes you what you are today!! I for one will never forget that season and to dismiss it so readily is being disrespectful to all those who took part. Yes times move but with the current team how it is, its nice to remember following football!!

So by remembering the past how am I not supporting the current team? Don’t be so short sighted and ignorant, open those Worthy tinted glasses!!

Guess by your logic all those people mourning George Best should were just wallowing in the past but should have been supporting the current team!! Anyone with anything upstairs remembers!!!!

I don''t forget the past, but I also don''t allow it to cloud my judgement over the present.

I don''t want to go through the next end number of years reminiscing

about how good we were in the ''Sutton Era'', I want to be enjoying how

well we are doing now in the ''Earnie etc era''.

I''m afraid your logic is flawed (and somewhat insulting) but I guess you could say the differences with George Best are:

a) Fans were celebrating the passing of a footballing legend, not looking for a tool to remove the current manager

b) He was a better player than Sutton has ever been

c) Man Utd fans weren''t banging on at Fergie to re-sign the guy purely

on some romantic notion he could still be the same player.

What do you think supporting the current team is then? Guess that''s a

vague suggestion that the current squad can''t play football.

Hmmm...Really sounds like the ''ardent'' support of a ''true'' fan....

Give me a break.

Indy Bones, good banter!

We all want to be celebrating the current team but when there is nothing to celebrate at the mo what do you do then? Why cant Sutton is part of the new era, surely he fits the bill of a big target man? Who would you rather have, Chris Sutton or Steve Howard/Geoff Horsfield?

Don’t think Chris Sutton is being used as a tool to remove the current manager, think the manager is providing enough rope for himself!!!

I am certainly not doubting that Best was a far better player than Sutton, the comparison I was drawing was one of looking back, remembering and celebrating.

All clubs have fans favourites and yes fans do put pressure on managers to sign certain players! Look no further than Darren Huckerby, fans have a big part to play and think it’s important to remember that.

I do support the current team, the future team but am getting frustrated by continuing hoof tactics!  I would definitely consider myself to be a true fan by going to games, following news articles and sticking by the club through whatever!!

[:)]

I don''t see it as there being nothing to celebrate though, I guess that''s the difference.

Yes, some players underperformed last year, and yes, the hoofball

tactics will get us nowhere, but I can also see the likes of Hunter

picking up on this and encouraging Worthy to return to passing

football. Hunter is too good a coach to just sit back and advocate

pointless long ball footy. Also, the signing of Croft, the return of

Safri, and the chance of a more stable defence this term is looking

inviting to me.

I admit that I''d rather have Sutton than either Howard or Horsfield,

but I still think as fans we need to give Thorne a fair chance. Age

wise they are the same, goalscoring wise their records are almost the

same based on goals per game, plus Thorne is used to playing at this

level and could recreate his old strike partnership with Earnie, that

was prolific for Cardiff. Yes, it''s a big ''If'', but no more so than the

''If'' surrounding Sutton. The difference being that we already have

Thorne, pay his wages, and he''s looked sharp pre-season. Whereas Sutton

is bound to cost more, was poor last term and hasn''t played/trained at

this level in weeks.

Why can''t Thorne be given a better chance than the 11 starts he had last term (Which was wrecked by injuries)?

And the support you advise you give at the end, is exactly the support the club needs more than ever now [:)]

Don''t get too excited yet Indy regarding Hunter as he came from the Howard Wilkinson school of coaching, as did Worthy.  I believe he stated when he came to the club that he didn''t think much needed changing, but only time will tell if he has an influence.
