Ulf Ottosson 0 Posted July 19, 2006 I can''t understand all this negative surrounding the lack of transfers - given the last two years we have had lots of poor poor signings none of whom have made a lasting impact. I hope that Worthy is saving is measley transfer budget to sign one player who will vastly improve the team, instead of what he has done it recent reason and sign squad player after squad player. Hopefully he is using the friendlies to evaluate what we need most - A right winger, target man, playmaker or right back - we obviously can''t afford all these. In the next few weeks hopefully a real quality winger can be signed and we can at least say the man is learning from his mistakes. Yellow Shrimper 0 Posted July 20, 2006 I agree with you Ulf that it should be quality rather than quantity. Three years ago we had a relatively small squad, went for quality signings, were lucky with injuries & ended up as Champions. Same again please
Hairy Canary 754 Posted July 20, 2006 I think thats a fair point Mr Ulf. For me the best transfer policy is definitely evolution not revolution. We have had far too much of the later in the last couple of years. The trouble is that the squad is so unbalanced and has glearing weeknesses because of the wholesale changes and poor buys of the last close season that it''s going to take a lot of sorting. The other worry I have is that our squad doesn''t seem to fit any particular formation. We either don''t have a good enough hold-up man for some sytems or too week a midfield / wide right for others. .
FilletTheFishWife . 0 Posted July 20, 2006 Its an assumption but I agree it would be better to purchase one decent player for 2M than 4 * 500K players but at least it keeps others busy reminding us who''s bought who!Let''s hope that''s true .
