I am happy we won, but a tiny part of me wonders what the reaction would have been if it had stayed 0-2. I dont think we deserved the win. Gallacher made 3 good stops,Hucks and Earny were lively, but the rest of the team were pretty average. Didnt see the Wednesday game, so cant really compare the performance with the last one, but we were distincly average.

Anyway, onto a gripe of mine - why oh why oh why are we continually linked with League 1/ Championship journey men players? Norris, Edwards etc - if these players were actually ANY good, there would be several clubs after them, and they wouldnt have spent the majority of their careers knocking around the lower leagues, like Hughes, Jarrett, Thorne, MLJ, Robinson etc.  

I would love to see some ambition being shown. There are some good players in the Premier League (does the board / management actually remember that place?). To get back there, we will need to sign players of that calibre, and not the sh!tty dross we are always linked with. Earny was a coup, so was Ashton, but then the situations we were in at the time for Ashtons signing were favourable.

Anyway, I digress. Some players in the Prem, off the top of my head who would improve our team, that I would like to see us go for: Solskaer, Fortune, Gera, Lawrence, Arca, Routledge, Reid, Davenport, Gardner, Greening, Morrison, Christie (Middlesborough), Hendrie, Carlton Cole, Johnson, Mabizela, Moekwena, David Thompson, Shaun Newton, Clive Clarke, Jimmy Walker, Elliot Ward, Simon Davies, Kromkamp, Chopra, Radzinksi.

I know that some are on high wages, but the majority are not getting first team football, and would imrove our team. I dont want wholesale changes made, as this disrupts the balance of the team, but we are never linked with decent players. Hence Andy Hughes was our "major" summer signing.

Having a friend in the sports media, I know that Worthy likes to keep his transfer dealings very close to his chest, and everything low key, but the worrying thing that comes out of this is the poor players we are linked with. Halford, Commons, Danns, Jerome, Jones are players who are up coming young players, (with the exception of Commons) - they could be blended with some decent proven Prem class players.

In my view we need

• Left back cover
• a right back 
• central defensive cover beyond doc, shacks & Flem
• 3 new midfielders - both flanks and one who can create
• a new coaching staff.

If we havent got the money to get all of them start at the bottom and move up the list.
