Cantley 0 Posted March 19, 2006 In an earlier thread some people were making a distinction between the official attendance at a match, as quoted in the Pinkun match reports, and the actual attendance, ie ticket holders who don''t turn up on the day.Where can you find these actual attendance figures? Fife Canary 0 Posted March 19, 2006 Cantley, my understanding of the attendance fugures is the % of turnout. IE if Norwich state 25000 with 91% turnout then the true actual attendance would be 22750.
Syteanric 1 Posted March 19, 2006 if they say todays attendance is 23000 a turn out of 99%.. then thats the percentage of people who has bought tickets who turned up... so u could easily have a turn out one day of 15-16000 which is 95%...jas :)
Thirsty Lizard 3,169 Posted March 19, 2006 Yeah Fife is right. As far as I know we are the only club in the whole League who announces our attendances this way. Every other club just announces the number of tickets sold, irrespective of whether or not those people actually turn up.This all dates back to the days when there really was a boycott of matches, i.e, the Robert Chase days. Back then the crowd they announced was everybody in the ground, including the police and stewards, the programme sellers, the ball boys, the press box and everyone else they could think of, including the tea lady. When the new board took over they started announcing the crowd in the way they do now to restore credibility to the official figures. Branston Pickle 3,667 Posted March 19, 2006 The figures are printed as an ''actual'' and ''%'' in the matchday programmes (they obviously only have data for home games), and announced over the tannoy; yesterday''s attendance was 25,350 or thereabouts and 92% (about average for the ''take-up'' element). No idea where you''ll get the figures unless you have a programme, other media only uses the ''official'' attendance figures so you may not be able to find them readily.
