Mr. Raumdeuter III 77 Posted February 11, 2023 I watched this a couple of days ago on one of my favourite YouTube channels ‘Norwich City Archives’, superb channel, and very thankful for their generous uploads. Towards the end of the season Duncan Forbes scored two incredible headers which thundered on off the bar. I never saw Duncan play as I’m only 32, yet I’m always ready and willing to hear stories about players from our club’s history. Which leads me to one particular story. My Dad told me that Duncan Forbes once scored a header whilst bloodied up, and when he met the ball, the blood visibly sprayed out of the wound. A slightly grim image to others but not to me. It’s always defined an era of football that I know little about but encapsulates everything about a thunderous, passionate, era of football. Where players were hard as nails. I was just hoping someone on here can remember this moment, and could potentially offer more context, as I’d love to hear about it?
Michael Brown 13 Posted February 11, 2023 I think that Duncan also carried on playing with 3 broken ribs, away to Arsenal (I think). 1

He had a punctured lung but refused to be carried off the pitch. I don't remember the blood incident but I do remember Kevin Keegan punching him in front of the Barclay. Duncan just laughed and patted him on the head. The header he scored against Swindon towards the end of the promotion season was very important. Unfortunately he missed a similar chance against Spurs at Wembley and he told us on an away trip that he thought about it regularly. We all lied and told him we didn't remember it!

I know he's a Binner but this happened in an England shirt:
