Any News On Mckenzie

Recommended Posts

Does anybody know when Mckenzie is due back.  Just wondering if I have missed a press cutting somewhere stating his progress.  By jove we need him.

EDP, November 18:

Leon

McKenzie has taken his first tentative steps towards a comeback.

The

Norwich City striker is now back in light training for the first time since

suffering an ankle injury nearly three months ago and could conceivably be back

before Christmas if everything goes to plan.

McKenzie

is refusing to put a time-scale on his recovery right now but manager Nigel

Worthington revealed on Thursday that the popular frontman could start joining

in with the rest of the squad in a couple of weeks time – so there is certainly

some light at the end of the tunnel for a man who has found it difficult to watch

from the stands while his team-mates have been struggling.

“It has

been frustrating sitting on the sidelines watching because I would just love to

be out there playing football and scoring goals,” said McKenzie, who had netted

twice in seven appearances before picking up the injury at Colney at the end of

August.

“Ever

since I started playing the game professionally I have been living a dream

because it was always my ambition as a kid to earn my living this way.

“I

don’t particularly enjoy watching football from the stands and the fact that we

have struggled for results recently has made it even more frustrating. But

injuries are all part and parcel of the game and I have just had to get on with

it.

“Hopefully

by the time I come back we will have won a few games. I just want to get back

to full fitness as soon as possible and be available for the second half of the

season.”

McKenzie

is now perfectly mobile again after his injury setback and was in full training

gear at Colney on Thursday in preparation for some light ball work under the

guidance of physiotherapist Neal Reynolds.

“I’m

running again now which is good and I am ready to take the ball out with Neal.

We’ll see how that goes - but it’s early days yet,” he said.

“I am

not looking too far ahead at present. I am just taking things day by day,

trying to kick on the best I can.

“I

can’t say when I will be back. But when I do return I think the supporters will

know all about it! I will be raring to go, as I always am.”

Having

missed 14 matches McKenzie is well aware that he has some hard work to do on

the training ground – and in reserve team football – before he is ready for the

tough world of Coca-Cola Championship football.

“My

overall fitness is bound to have been affected because I have been out for nearly

three months now,” he said. “It’s going to take a little while to get that back

and once that happens then hopefully everything else will fit into the place.”

If I was him I''d keep low for another 6 months until the dust settles.
Does anybody know when Mckenzie is due back.  Just wondering if I have missed a press cutting somewhere stating his progress.  By jove we need him.
