nutty nigel 7,902 Posted August 18, 2018 There is a school of thought that says we should have done that today instead of pressing for a winner.
lake district canary 4,831 Posted August 19, 2018 Two things strike me about this. Yes there was less tippy tappy yesterday - yet we still had a good share of the posession (even though we kept giving it away too easily). The two things are this - is Farke prepared to adapt his philosophy to take into account the nature of the champnionship, or does he stick to his guns and demand more possession style football. Farke is an intelligent man so I think he is able to adapt. It''s not so far wrong and the possession football works if you are incisive and accurate with your passing. Imo the philosophy is to keep the ball but keep it with a mindset of moving forwards at every possibility. So many times yesterday we had the ball and just stalled on the halfway line and ended up giving it away, when it was clear that there were options there to pass it forwards. That can be rectified - we have good passers - but the players have to be braver in their passing when the opportunities are there and not just think safety first. Confidence is important too. So yes, tippy tappy will imo still be there - but it will have to have more emphasis on moving it forwards.
