1.
*tin hat on* dare i say it Damien Francis... in the promotion season under Worthy and for the 1st half of the premiership campaign he was a class apart from anyone else we had in midfield
The same Damian Francis that retired three years ago?! If we can play it that way, then I want Chris Sutton and Ian Crook!
 2.
ie: Hughes, Cody, TudorJones, Smith. They don''t appear to have gone to Germany, haven''t played in the games against Wroxham or Histon. Are they just training on their own hoping someone comes in for them? With the exception of Cody, I can''t imagine anyone''s really going to be interested in 3 unfit League One level players on decent wages.
I suspect that we will see Owain Tudor-Jones go to a league one side, he did well on loan in that league for two clubs last year and seems really keen to just get on the pitch and playing some games. Pretty certain he came out and said that it looks like he is always injured, because we weren''t in the reserves league, or something.... when reality is he has actually only spent a couple of months injured for each of the two seasons he has been here.I think its pretty much a given that Cody will go to the first people that meet our asking price, possibly still Peterborough, but there is plenty of time between now and the end of the transfer window. I hope we see a sell on clause in any deal, because I can see him leaving for £400k and then being moved on for three times that.In respect of Smith and Hughes, I fear that you are right about the money thing. Wasn''t it common knowledge that Hughes came on £6k per week? I wonder whether there were any promotion pay rises in that? For all we know he could be on £10k now. I rate Hughes, reckon he could do a job for an average Champs team or good League 1 team, but I can''t see anybody giving him £6k a week. That''s a Gunn legacy for you. Can''t see him halving his wages to move on, perhaps Lambert is trying to force the issue who knows. Apparently Steven Smith is wanted by Hearts, but only if that great left back of theirs joins Rangers. Of course, any of those four players could be at other training grounds right now. You never know, they could be training and trialing with clubs as we speak. We just found out that Jed Steer was.
 3.
I think by december, our line up could look like this: Ruddy Martin De Laet Barnett Naughton Crofts Bennett Pilkington Hoolahan Morrison Vaughan
You appear to have two right backs and no left backs in that line up, or is playing two right backs against Ryan Giggs actually a good idea?  Personally I doubt we well see Pilkington, Bennett and Hoolohan on the pitch together at the same time in case we fall behind in a game. To leave Crofts with the defensive stuff will see us ripped apart. I expect to see either the two wingers on the pitch with two defensive centre mids, or one winger on with Hoolohan but a deeper player such as Surman on the left.
 4. I''m struggling to think of any here.I think I''d have Clingan as a squad player, good competition for the base of the diamond. Shackell has been fab since he left, and in fairness only had one crap year for us, bit of a journeyman though! I''d have him providing cover for Lamberts chosen three (probably no better than Rob Edwards though!). I reckon that''s it, I suspect that Rudd is as good as Lewis. I don''t think Green is the player that he was. Oh and Bellamy of course, if he wasn''t grossly overpaid I''d take him on a realistic wage! Particularly as he can play left wing or up front. That goes to show just how far we have come from a couple of years ago, with an old Cureton and a returning Daryl Russell greeted like a hero, having Paul Hayes turn us down, Paul McVeigh coming back. Blimey, those players just seem so crap in hindsight. Asides from McVeigh who was class for us for a period, we pretty much bought back our rejects? I can remember people thinking it was a travesty when David Bell left, he was pretty average too really wasn''t he? In conclusion, I think that Clingan really is the only one who could realistically compete for minutes. Ignoring loan players like Crouch, Parker and Bentley of course. Any I''ve missed?
 5.
ok, understand where u r coming from. No one expects us to jump in and play teams that might test us straight away. But what about the BIG teams they do not adopt the same attitude. Yes i do know what they are doing in germany, playing two different teams in ONE day. Do not need to apply for a job by the way, sorry if not everyone agrees with your views. just a good argument and rudeness is not required. Real Madrid, just have a look who they were playing pre season!!!
So Man Utd, Chelsea and Arsenal are not BIG teams? Wenger has lost the plot, granted, but your example of a big team there didn''t win anything last year matey.I checked the Real Madrid fixture list anyway, they are in the world football challenge playing Los Angeles Galaxy, Guadalajara and Philadelphia Union. I wouldn''t rate any of those games as difficult as the two major friendlies that we have coming up. That is who they are playing, how are those teams any better than Parma and Zaragoza? In fact, are those teams even any better than Coventry and Crystal Palace? Probably not. We are the only team that I have found who are playing 9 friendlies, we probably have the most gruelling schedule in the league. To play Crystal Palace, Southend, Coventry City, Real Zaragoza and Parma in an 11 day period, that''s 5 tough games in less than a fortnight, what planet do you need to be on to suggest that our pre-season isn''t going to be a challenge?

The Celtic fans were fantastic for the Tim Shepperd game, absolutely superb, I would at least expect the banner to be banned for that game. We do have to play Liverpool next season too, by the way. I just think any banner which has anything potential at all to offend should be rejected in favour of another design. Fitness my backside, they would have had a harder run out against the reserves. i am a sports therapist they should be testing themselves now regardless wether they get beat or not. what did gorleston prove.
Hello and Welcome to the exciting world of Football, I assume that from your comments this is your first ever season following this traditional sport! How exciting for you!Jokes aside, we have friendlys to come against a Serie A and La Leaga as well as Legue 1 and Championshipe opposition. As the pre-seasons go on we are steadly playing better teams untill we hit Wigan at full momentum. The purpose of the games against Gorlstone and more so the games in Germany are that the opposition are good enough for a run about, but also weak enough to start working of training ground practiced formations and tactics without being battered.. we dont need that yet as we have an entire season of that to come!
What the hell is a ''Gorlstone'', is that like a gallstone? Can you be cured? I know somebody in Gorleston who have a gallstone, not sure if they have ever had a Gorlstone though.
 8.
re write that do not know what happened. tell that to arsenal, man u, chelsea, sunderland spurs and the rest. Fitness my backside, they would have had a harder run out against the reserves. i am a sports therapist they should be testing themselves now regardless wether they get beat or not. what did gorleston prove.
I suspect that most sports therapists, a profession that they would need a degree to enter, would capitalise the first words in their sentences. They would also know their remit, which is to deal with injuries. A sports therapist is a glorified masseuse. They are to physiotheraphy what a labourer is to a construction manager.I tolded that to Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea nonetheless. Arsenal pointed out that they played a friendly against Hangzou and Greentown of the Chinese League on the 16th July (one team per half). Manchester United agreed with your point, which is why they just played the mighty New England Revolution the other day. Chelsea also laughed at the poor opposition of our opponents, which is why they are going to be "testing themselves" against the undisputed champions of the Hong Kong premier league later this month. Idiot.
 9.
I took what Larry said to be a joke. The only thing that is killing football is sky high footballers'' wages which FFP will sort out.
I didn''t take it as a joke, but maybe your right? I have no idea what FFP stands for though? After seeing Dispatches the other day, you could argue that the problems are going much further! I reckon they should not only a wage cap, but also a rule over where surplus cash goes too. If people are looking to triple their investment on a football club etc, then they should cap profits. A certain amount should go towards ground development, perhaps. Then each owner has to leave a legacy if the club is making money. Some crap grounds out there which could do with a facelift. Or perhaps limiting ticket prices, as an alternative. If limiting players wages just results in more money for anonymous owners, then we are only going to see a shift from overpaid players to overpaid chairmen and secret owners. I hate the culture of mediocre players becoming millionaires by 22, but I probably rather have thick people spending money and putting it back into the economy than Chinese owners taking the money to China.
 10.
Smudger will be disappointed, I remember him trying to convince everyone that Luke Daley was the future of football.  Good luck to LD, I hope he can realise his potential with the Pilgrims.
Smudger would never admit to getting anything wrong, ever. He instead insists on pointing out everything that he has got right, every time somebody says something he disagrees with.  Good luck to Luke Daley. To be honest I''ve never seen anything in him, never looked good enough for me, then went to Stevenage and didn''t get any football. This year is make or break for him I feel, if he doesn''t start banging the ball in the net then he is going to be playing for Wroxham in no time. Should do alright in League Two though, perhaps as a winger though because I just can''t see him making it as a striker.
 11.
Yorkshire, you can''t expect every player to come through the academy to be brilliant. I think we have done well lately. Rob green, lorry smith, Tom adeyimi, jed steer, Declan Rudd to name a few!!
If 13 years ago is seen as "lately" then every academy in the country has done exceedingly well!
 12.
Well if you do choose to watch them, remember you''re killing sport and contributing to the downfall of society [8-)]
Bit extreme, footy really doesn''t play a major role in the lives of many people in any country, plenty of people are perfectly happy without following it at all. If enough people start watching for free online you could argue that they are saving sport in the long term. The sport has been in a bubble for a long time, and if it bursts it won''t be the fans who are to blame. This goes back to ticket prices, which are the direct result of footballing expenses, which are themselves the direct result of sky money and a lack of regulation. If football goes bust I will be blaming the FA, UEFA and FIFA, not the person who watches a bit of footy online. They have had ample opportunity to introduce wage caps. They do it in other countries. If we didn''t rely on dirty Murdoch money, which we didn''t 20 years ago, then we wouldn''t need to worry about how people watch the game. It''s not like Carrow Road is going to have an empty seat this year anyway, so it means diddly squat in the short term. To suggest that the customer would be to blame for the fall of an industry for refusing to buy a product is ludicrious, you have to price that product correctly. In addition, the fact that Premier League games are broadcast world over is the only reason why the sport has so much money in it now anyway. Man Utd wouldn''t have their global franchises without cheap TV access, doubt many bars in China and Thailand would be paying anything at all to show games, and if they are paying it would be pennies on each pound that British bars and sky subscribers have to spend!Same with the music industry argument. Does a song being uploaded to YouTube and getting 1 million hits mean 1 million lost customers, or does it mean 1 million people hearing a song that they wouldn''t otherwise have heard, and 20000 of them buying the album?
 13.
I''ve often thought someone like David James would be a good shout. Not as direct competition for Ruddy, happy to be on the bench yet guaranteed the odd game here and there and happy to coach/advise Ruddy and Rudd/Steer. Green would start ahead of Ruddy undeservedly IMO. Do we have an actual goalkeeping coach BTW?
"happy to be on the bench"Really? Why did he go to Bristol City then? He is getting first team footy there. "happy to coach/advise Ruddy and Rudd/Steer"But not happy to give his shirt to Rudd. The bloke is right up there with the biggest egos in football, I don''t want him anywhere near Carrow Road, thanks but no thanks!
 14.
Go on then i''ll bite first, Not a Lambert type player, he turned his back on us, we dont need experience, hes crap... Anyway hes off to West Brom i think...
Why do people always say that Greeno is a judas or traitor or something, he didn''t sign his first pro contract with the condition that he never left, this is Norwich not Royston Vassey! He was our number 1 keeper for five years, and didn''t jump at the first opportunity after relegation. He played 241 games for the club, helped us to promotion, and was then sold for a decent fee. He didn''t exactly do an Andy Marshall. Anybody would think that he had one good season then left on a bosman. He did what any decent keeper would have done if it was going to be the difference between International recognition and obscurity, went to the Premiership. He''s been playing football for 10 years, and has played 427 games for just two clubs. In this day and age he can hardly be described as disloyal. I still wouldn''t have him back, because I think he would cost just as much if not more than Fraser Forster when wages are considered, and I think that Forster is the better keeper. I don''t think we need Green because Ruddy is just as good as him, any acquisition of a goalkeeper should either be somebody who is happy to sit on the bench or somebody who could potentially be better than Ruddy. Green isn''t either, he is another Ruddy.Forster on the other hand, yes please!
 15.

was a loyal servant to the club but when we got rid he had potential. BTW, if Cody really tried hard to be a goalkeeper I think he would quickly be as good if not better than Green....................  just pulling your leg !
Cody as you probably know did play in goal for us when FF was sent off and distinguished himself. Yet another reason why it would be good to have him in the squad.
Is that really a good reason to have him in the squad? He spent 20 minutes in goal, and then admitted that he didn''t have a clue what he was doing. I don''t think that is any reason whatsoever to have him in the squad. On the off chance that we had a keeper sent off, and then the sub keeper injured, or similar.... there will be 10 other players on the pitch who don''t know what they are doing who could stand in goal.

Also at the World Cup the only bloody beer you could buy was Budwieser, where at least in the Premier League you have a choice of sh#t beers to drink.
Oh I see what your saying, fair enough. All this would still need to be checked however. That''s why I think this needs to go through the club. Basically the club need to confirm:a) that a banner can be hungb) location it is allowedc) size of locationd) health and safety requirementse) that they are happy with design and sloganElse, money will be wasted. I wouldn''t want my name on something which can then make people liable for anything in any circumstance, I could do without a lawsuit!

 18.
Oh dear, methinks the laddie doth protest too much. Protests that seem to be based on the tried and tested formula of making up something and replying to that rather than addressing what was posted up. In his wacky world Lee-Branett is criticised for being non league where it was actually because he is crap, even the binners state that. He was not the back upo keeper, he often played when Fulop was available ie sat on the bench. The rest of the reasoned debate is dismissed, as it''s based on "its fashionable to hate them all, and wish them bad". So their impoverished state is down to our hatred of them, theirhaving to dramatically cut their waghe budget is down to our hatred as is the falling gates, income and season ticket sales. The OP might do better to address those points rather than putting up absurd notions that both Bowyer and Chopra would be up to playing for City next season. The club down the A140 is going down the plug hole at a fairly steady rate, nothing we do or say will have any affect on that. It is set against that parlous state that City fans have posted up why they think the team will struggle. RIPswich (or based on their recent signings OAPswich)
You might have had a point before you ruined it with "absurd notions that both Bowyer and Chopra would be up to playing for City next season", which is rather hypocritical, after you had said "making up something". In no part of this thread, or anywhere on this forum, or anywhere online, or anywhere offline, have I said that Chopra would have made our XI this season. I bet he would have got some minutes last season though, because he would clearly have offered more than Wilbraham. As for Lee Bowyer, sorry but he was class last year and I suspect that there will be worse midfielders in the six or seven weakest teams in the Premier League next year, of which we could well be one but could well be not. At 34 he won''t offer much past this season, but there is no way that I can sit here and say that Bowyer on a one year deal would be a bad signing for any Championship club. The cretin that he is. Whilst I can appreciate that the Football League show was the most important source of footy highlights for us last year, many of us saw enough of Bowyer last year to see that he still has something in the tank.
 19.

35,000 I hate the hotel, but why make stupid suggestions that the hotel will be demolished? I would be interesting to hear what McNally has to say, I don''t own any shares, but possibly a great question for an AGM meeting from somebody who does have some?I do recall somebody saying once that corner infills are less profitable per seat than an entire new stand would be, because its a lot of work for not many seats.Personally I don''t object to the basic principle of a hotel, but it looks hideous. Would rather the design was approved by somebody with taste, it could have matched the colour of the barclay and Jarrold, could have been fixed to the barclay and jarrold and been closer to the pitch, and could have had a big screen put in place to actually offer something extra to the fans (and it would have been viewable to home fans not away fans in that corner, which would have been funny).
 20. 21. Putting aside the fact that I can''t think of anywhere for this banner to go, and that needs to be discussed with the commercial team at Carrow Road to work out places where advertising doesn''t sit, and the size of those spaces, I can see a major flaw here. I would be happy to throw a fiver in the direction of a decent banner, but not that one. St Paul''s Cathedral is a place of worship for the Church of England. Paul Lambert is a Celtic legend from Glasgow. You may as well all wear Rangers shirts with Lambert on the back. The irony is just far too great for me to support it. Can''t we just have a Grant Holt banner? I tell you what, if you can come up with something much less Alan Partridge-esque I''d chip in a tenner, despite not sitting anywhere near the Barclay.
 22.
It would be nice to see the club retaining ‘Family Values’ and encourage the next generations of supporters to attend matches on a regular basis (as in first team season ticket sales – not ad-hoc reserve games).   We can all bounce proposed ideal capacity figures based on past and current marketing activity, but it’s what the club does in the future that counts.   Keep prices medium-high and we’ll do well to require 35,000. Offer great value tickets for the whole family with facilities to match and 38-40,000 may be realistic. I know attendees from our household would double from 2 to 4 in an instant if we could get 4 seats at decent prices. Mrs Mustard and 5 year old Dijon could come along then couldn’t they?   By the way, Mrs Mustard’s biggest objection to attending matches is the poor ladies toilets. The queues are ridiculous. That really is something that needs to be improved if the club want to attract women to the stadium. Either that or offer a substantial discount off the ticket price in a reciprocal deal sponsored by Tena Lady!
Mr''s Mustard should go to the toilet at 1 minute to 3, that''s what Le Juge does, it never fails. Sometimes it means not getting to the seat until 2 minutes past 3, but it extends the chances of getting a Boddingtons and a cornish pasty at half time somewhat.
 23.
"I have them down for the drop, so far, I''ve seen nothing to change that opinion" Blimey, I''m in full agreement with wiz The OP has put up some odd stuff about our club so I suppose this is in line with that view. As put by others the paupers are pretty much bumping along the bottom money wise so it should be no suprise that they have little option but to trawl the bins of other clubs. Some will point to us and say that we weren''t predicted to do much last summer but we almost ended up as champions. However that is where the comparison ends. City had in place a deternined and some might say a ruthless chief executive, a manager fixed on winning and installing that mentality into the squad. The squad had been assembled in the same vein by finding winners and I suspect players who would buy into that winning ethos. No ''stars'' or ''big time charlies''. You only have to look how McNally gave the NOTW a ''slap'' over a false story ... long before other bigger folk took them on. Money was made available despityer what some on here have bleated. The whole place has been buzzing and there has been an air of determnied professionalism about the set up. Contrast this with the shambolic state of affairs at poorman road. Steadily falling gates. season tickets and income ... year on year. Players walking out as the cost cutting starts to bite. The boy blunder having to be sold to balance the books. Even a number of youngsters were only offered six month contracts. A desperate measure in the context of the amounts involved. Perhaps they will suprise us all, but the concern must be that a paper thin squad made up of a fair number of over 30''s will not only be vunerable to the effects of likely injuries - but does highlight a deeper problem within the club. In that light as a betting man I would put money on a bottom six rather than a top six place.
"The OP has put up some odd stuff about our club so I suppose this is in line with that view."Whilst the overwhelming majority disagree with me in respect of Town''s prospects, and I am sitting here thinking "I''m probably wrong then", I''d be interested in hearing just what it is that I''ve "put up" about City which can be seen as "odd". I hardly ever make threads, the last one asks how big people think Carrow Road needs to be. I''ve said that I rate Cody McDonald. I''ve said that people need to lay off Chris Martin and John Ruddy. Other than that, I doubt that I have really taken any stance on anything of real substance, be interested to hear what it is exactly that I have said which can be described as "odd", unless you are merely referring to opinions that you don''t agree with. In which case, we are all a bunch of fruitcakes, because every thread is centred around differing opinions matey! On reflection, looking at that league table full of zeros, I realise that top 6 will probably be pushing it (this paragraph is a response to the whole thread, not the person quoted). But I still rate Jewell, he got them moving again at the end of last season, and think he will bring the best out of what he is given. I''m still going to say top 10. I know its fashionable to hate them all, and wish them bad, but I still think they are far too good for a relegation battle. Would take any manager a bit of time to clear out Keanes messy mistakes.Chopra had a poor year last year, but he still reached double figures, but I don''t think 63 goals in 152 Championship appearances is to be sniffed at, in fact I don''t think the 8 in 39 he scored in the Prem for Sunderland can be sniffed at either, I''d take that from any of our strikers next year to be honest. They have only given Bowyer 1 year, but I think he would get in any Champs team. I''m surprised at the criticising of Lee-Barrett based upon the fact that he has played non-league football. He played for Hartlepool before Ipswich. Some would be best served to see where some of our players have come from! That said, he is their backup keeper anyway, they have Fulop. I just think they have a squad which is far superior to the level that they showed when playing us both times last year. They had the worst man manager in the country, somebody like Jewell who doesn''t scare the sh*t out of players is probably what they need.
 24.
Getting back on topic, is there any proof at all that this story is actually true?
I just logged on to say precisely that, you beat me to it. Can''t see the point in discussing his height when this has clearly been made up, probably to the amusement of Mr Willis himself. My money is on a mate of his doing it for a laugh, maybe a Dereham team mate or something. Bet he is finding the texts and facebook messages funny nonetheless, "what''s this bout you signing for City mate?", if I were him I''d play along with it for a bit, lol.I heard Adrian Coote is available? Got zero pace, but I''ve always seen him as somebody tall enough to be a keeper. We could train him up and shove him on the bench, Rudd can go out on loan?
 25.
I think i a am correct in saying that the Spurs game is the closest to Carrow Road at about 125 miles. That is unlikely to change much and whilst Norwich is somewhat isolated in terms of speedy access it is for many people the closest they can get to see a Premier game. Norwich and Norfolk is increasing in population and these factors may be taken into account when discussing the size of expansion. One way of getting over the empty stadium look would be to have safe standing areas at a lower price. It pays to remember that our big crowds of the past were for predominantly standing fans. H
I think the only part of the ground that I would have as standing is the lower Barclay, get another 1000 in there and the place would be rocking! I would extend that to the snakepit, if they weren''t prone to jumping out of the stand, shame that a few idiots with a much lower than average IQ would ruin that for the rest of them though. But yeah, would be fantastic to see an all-standing lower barclay. Would need to make sure that anybody who isn''t happy or able to stand can get a season ticket elsewhere though. I''d keep the extra 1000 as casuals though, think I''m right in saying that the lower barclay is all season ticket? That kinda misses the point in cheaper seating, would be great to have more casual tickets, plus not many away fans would dare to obtain a ticket in an all standing Barclay Lower! lol.
