  1. I''m pretty happy with Ruddy, goalkeepers need a few games to get the consistency going, as long as Lambert shows faith in him then his confidence will continue to build. Has a proven record in Scotland last year so all good.
  2. Really surprised he hasn''t sorted anything yet, with the interest in him last season and all. Hope he ends up with a good club, no hard feelings from my point of view.
  3. And for anyone interested here is a real report... Sportal Australia Jul 17 2010 21:29 Get more on: everton | brisbane | roar | aleague EVERTON has completed a clean sweep of its Australian tour with a hard-fought 2-1 win over Brisbane on Saturday night, but the Roar''s bevy of recruits impressed in their first clash at Suncorp Stadium. After a scoreless opening half, the visitors inched ahead in the 49th minute courtesy of a magnificent curling strike from Jack Rodwell, who chanced his luck from outside the penalty box. The Toffees dominated possession and tightened their grip on the contest after the goal, with Louis Saha and Leon Osman both unlucky not to score. That was until ex-Wellington striker Costa Barbarouses brought the crowd of 19,786 to its feet with a goal against the flow of play in the 66th minute. Barbarouses stunned the EPL outfit with a deft strike from the tightest of angles that somehow deceived Everton goalkeeper Ian Turner before bouncing off the woodwork into the back of the net. It was the first and only goal the Toffees conceded in their Australian sojourn. The boisterous home crowd had every right to dream of a shock upset, with new faces Barbarouses, Thomas Broich, Erik Paartalu all looking the goods in the orange strip. However the mismatch in class eventually proved too much, with Everton substitute Magye Gueye making the most of some lackadaisical defending in the 83rd minute. Gueye found himself unmarked at the back of the box and pocketed his first goal for the tour after a smart through ball from Jose Baxter. Roar defender Luke DeVere had a good chance to equalise in the dying stages, but it was not to be for Ange Postecoglou''s men. Nonetheless, there were plenty of positive signs for the Brisbane coach ahead of his side''s season opener against rivals Gold Coast United on August 8. The Roar, who have made a host of changes to their list over the off-season were in no way disgraced against Everton. The introduction of Barbarouses and Mitch Nichols at halftime was especially noteworthy, with the pair adding a spark that was earlier somewhat lacking. Captain Matt McKay put in a polished performance, new custodian Michael Theoklitos was solid while Brazilian Henrique was lively. For the visitors, Rodwell and Seamus Coleman continued their impressive tour and delivered quality service for the likes of Saha, who looked like scoring all night long. However, on the whole Everton were understandably below their best after a busy schedule. The Toffees will travel straight to Brisbane airport and are due to depart for England at 2.30am on Sunday morning. Brisbane Roar 1 (Barbarouses 66)Everton 2 (Rodwell 49, Gueye 83) Brisbane Roar: 1. 4. Absolutely rubbish post, what is the point you are trying to make? Theo didn''t work out at Norwich, was given a release but still you want to keep on him. I''m sorry you didn''t get to touch his hand at the match like you wanted too, oh and sorry the atmosphere at a pre-season friendly didn''t live up to your expectations, the A-Leauge may not be world class but it''s also only 5 seasons old, did you expect it to be premier league level by now?
  5. Very average list...Only players I would take a gamble on:LB - Shane Candsdell-SherriffCM - Sean ThorntonCF - Gavin TomlinNone good enough to start but could all probably be ok squad members to cover for injuries.I''m guessing the list will improve in June with players listed who arn''t only on free transfers, never the less a good find, thanks!
  6. GK:Alex Smithies - Huddersfield, best young keeper in the division.Foster still No. 1 target for a loan even though he cant kick a football.CB:Jason Schakle! or anyone with some god dam speed for once.CM:Nicky Carle - Crystal Palace, may be looking for a move as he is a tampon selection at PalaceJimmy Smith - Leyton Orient, never given a real chance at Norwich and always played out of position, he is quality.Fwd:We have enough on the books, I have faith in Martin as a starter a champ level. We should be able to secure some prem loans, we have a great relationship with Arsenal and now they look like finally spending money in the summer may have some good talent looking for a game next year.Good season coming to an end but a tough season ahead.
  7. It would pay for you guys to actually have a look at some A-League games, it''s not as low quality as it''s made out to be, although there are a few average games granted. Ian Crook was only ever an assistant coach out here for Sydney so would describe him as being a respected coach by any means. I''m not sure Theo should be given a run again in the team, poor form for not showing up for the bus, saying that I do believe there is way too much hype on Rudd at the moment, and Foster, although a big commanding figure plays like a goalie half his size and has major problems with distribution at the moment. Pretty sure Theo could get a contract back down here either in Jan or at the end of the season, he was amazingly consistant for Melbourne during there title winning years. He also has more heart than alot of you would give him credit for, he turned out for Melbourne a couple of years ago on the day his mother died after a long illness and put in an inspired effort to basically get the win on the day for the team, it might not seem like much to people here but it was inspiring to watch, tears flowing from the man at the end of the match as he looked towards the sky. He screwed up in the 7-1 loss, put his hand up and took the blame in the interview following the match although this may have been missed by a few of you or taken the wrong way.
