1. I remember a time not too many years ago when it was the norm for citys home attendances to be as low as 16,000 for home games, when we started doing well again thousands of fans suddenly came out of the woodwork. Given that we''ve now gone back to the form of the bad old days how long will it be until these ''fans'' disappear again?
2.
I would settle for just one George Burley
George Burley is a great manager with a proven track record, but he used to manage ipswich i can''t see that going down too well with most city fans!
3. what i don''t understand is the people saying we''ve been playing poorly for 18 months??????????? there was nothing wrong with how we performed last season we were in the premier league the toughtest in the world and we only narrowly got relegated anybody who expected us to do loads better don''t live in the real world, Wigan are the exeption not the rule, most promoted teams come straight back down!
4. i couldn''t agree more! I wonder how much better we''d be doing if people got of worthingtons back and actually tried supporting a man who has done so much for our club?
5. thank god there are still some city fans looking at this situation rationally! when football teams are under performing the manager is always first to be blamed football is a team game therefore all success and equally all failure should be shared equally, the players are not blameless!
6. Just who is going to replace worthington anyway? Maybe we could get Bryan Hamilton back? anyone who thinks that some big name manager is gonna be even remotely interested has their head in the clouds! We will not be able to get another manager of Worthington''s calibre!
7. Nigel Worthington has had considerable success for this football club, i don''t care how god awful we''ve been this season he has earnt the right to at least try and sort this mess out! He deserves to be given a chance and the total and utter lack of loyalty towards him from some of our fans is appaling! It is extremely difficult coming down from the premiership just ask ipswich, leicester, wolves, bradford, barnsley, qpr, watford, derby, forest, coventry, sheffield wed etc all of whom have struggled since relegation. what we don''t want to do is panic, sack worthington and then end up in the championship for another decade!!! Give the man a chance he''s proved he can do it before and i beleive given the chance he''ll turn things around!!!!!
8.
Forest won the european cup with Clough in charge - but he also took them down when, if replaced earlier, such an event could have been avoided.   Spotting when a manager has done as much as he can at a club is difficult but important to get right. At some stage past acheivements must be over ridden by current performance.  IMO after 18 months of poor management and not just this seasons poor efforts we have reached that point. I resent being called an idiot for sharing my opinion that simply differs from your own.   OTBC
Fair point about Forest, but let me give you another example...... a certain club a few miles down the road namely Ipswich town decided it would be a good idea to sack George Burley after a poor championship campaign this coming after guiding them to a high premiership finish and european place! Well we all know how that finished Town are doing no better than us now and Burley has gone on to considerable sucess first with Derby and then with Hearts!!!!!
9. Nigel Worthington''s record as Norwich City manager reads like this: 2000/2001 - 15th in the championship(relegation was likely before he arrived!) 2001/2002 - 6th place and a play off final narrowly losing on penalties 2002/2003 - 8th place only just missing the play off''s 2003/2004 - Champions! as well as a memorable double over Ipswich 2004/2005 - Premier league 19th, only going down on the last day of the season 2005/2006 - 18th so far I know this is hardly new information to your average city fan, but i can only assume that thoose who seek to remove worthy from the club must suffer from short term memory loss! I don''t care how rubbish we have been for the last 6 months the fact of the matter is after bringing the club 5 YEARS of success Nigel Worthington has earnt the right to at least try and put things right. And i for one still beleive that he can turn things around, ok we aren''t going back up this season but give the man time to rebuild the side and you''ll reap the same rewards as in previous seasons. There is no quick fix to Norwich City''s problems at the moment a change of manager is not the answer! I just hope that Delia & co are strong enough to ignore the idiots who are calling for his head!
