the name pink`un ?

Forgive me if this question has been asked before, but why did this paper end up with the name the pink`un ?

Yes, it has been asked before - although it may have been two message boards ago.

My though was that because the quality of paper wasn''t so good in those days, dyes were added to make them less grey and more attractive. Pink was one of those colours - something which the FT continued well after the quality of paper improved.

I do remember there were a few other answers - I''ll try and find it out.

Roy mentions the pink''un in his book. During his prime time with bbc he used to read it in the afternoon or something like that. God the pink''un must be old!
