Jonzey 0 Posted January 16, 2013 ....not sure if this topic has come up already, but I''m getting lost in the masses of transfer threads this month. Surely this is a wasted opportunity: http://www1.skysports.com/football/news/12691/8398659/Chelsea-striker-Lucas-Piazon-has-joined-Malaga-on-loan-for-rest-of-season If you read up on this guy his reputation in Brazil was stellar with a huge European bidding war amongst the top clubs to sign him. Named Chelsea young player of the season for 2011/12. If Chelsea wanted to loan him out to prepare for the English Premier League surely it would have been better to loan him to an English Premier League side such as us, desperate for a striker, not a Spanish side where they play much differently in a different climate? I suppose we don''t know the thinking behind it at Chelsea, but if Lukaku can be loaned to West Brom, Piazon could have been loaned to us?
Morisons Prozac 0 Posted January 16, 2013 Piazon plays the same position as Sebastian Fernandez a player we were linked to last week so this move may allow us to get Fernandez in if there was any truth in this.
Gingerpele 0 Posted January 16, 2013 Hughton didn''t want him?I''m sure if there was an PL club after him, Chelsea probably would have loaned him out. And we are one of the few lower sides who could probably fit him in easily to our system without any chances (straight in for Hoolahan). Maybe Hughton did want him, and Chelsea just wanted him to get some experience of Spanish football. Its all very well saying the player needs PL experience, but maybe they want him to bring in a different style to their side, they like how Mata players, Piazon is already Brazilian, add a little Spanish flair in there and you have a great player. But his primary position is forward, which although might not make him an out and out striker it still makes him perfect for us, and would push Holt as the main man up front. As for Sebastian Fernandez, I only know what I''ve read, but he certainly sounds good. And if Piazon gets ahead of him in the pecking order at Malaga it would open up a potential move. And as he is vying for Suarez''s spot in the Uruguayan side, he must know him so perhaps he could inform our defenders how to stop him?!
