YellowAl 0 Posted August 19, 2012 I like all couldn''t praise Holt highly enough for how he has played for us over the 3 seasons. BUT, as soon as any player hands in a transfer request regardless of the issue they should be shown the door as quickly as possible. In that instant he has shown that he was happy to leave the club. How can the same person then be captain! As we all know, no one player is bigger than the club.I am in no way suggesting that what happened at Craven cottage is solely the fault of one individual, but when the proverbial hits the fan on the pitch you need to be able to look at your captain and say he is 100% NCFC. TIL 1010 5,246 Posted August 19, 2012 I take it you are saying Holt did not give 100% yesterday and should not be captain ? Would you be posting this had we not lost ? No,thought so.[:(]
AJ 1,359 Posted August 19, 2012 If anyone is 100% Norwich, it is Holt. It''s not his fault they messed him around when all he wanted was an extra year on his new deal to secure his family. He explicitly said he wanted to stay here, and it was a massive boost for the squad that he has stayed here. He just simply can''t play upfront on his own, everyone can see that, apart from obviously, Hughton.
YellowAl 0 Posted August 19, 2012 Tell me then how many players at successful clubs have handed in a transfer request to then be kept on as captain. No one can tell if a player gives 100% unless you are psychic. Anyway the point is not how much effort holt gives on the pitch but whether the players on the pitch look at him as a talisman for the club
Kings Man 0 Posted August 19, 2012 I think what Holt did over the summer was break the team spirit that was - it suggested that it was every man for themself, particularly following on from Lambert leaving.Whilst it is fantastic Holt stayed - we need his goal scoring, the previous team spirit I think has gone and now has to be fostered all again.Rather than we''re all in this together, and have risen up together, we''ve now got a new mix of team - Howson, Snodgrass coming in - we''ve got to build a new togetherness and team spirit. The huddle before the match felt rather artificial this time around for some reason.Team building takes time, so I don''t think it''s all down to Hughton''s tactics. The fact that this new team has not really had a run of wins either means it is low on confidence. That''s all diffficult to repair in the premier league with the types of games and class of players you''ve got to play against! lake district canary 0 Posted August 19, 2012 Holt seems to get singled out for criticism quite alot. He has been ever since he got here. There is a core of fans who have always been quick to jump on his back. I find it strange. He has simply been one of the main reasons we have done so well in the last three seasons - and there is no reason why he can''t do the same again.
CanaryOne 0 Posted August 19, 2012 Agree with the poster above saying Holt has killed the team spirit , he blackmailed the club into a better contract , retains the captaincy and comes back this season as fat as he was last when Lambert benched him . Probably the type to go around bragging he''s on more money than the others too , should have sold him , there are replacements out there as Swansea have shown .I have said all summer we do not have one Premiership striker at the club and i stand by that now . We have sold nobody crucial this summer so it either has to be Lambert leaving the loss of the team spirit and togetherness ,or Chris Hughton on yesterdays performance that side would not have won a Championship match . 40 points looks a hell of a long way off .
