The Goal Threat 0 Posted August 19, 2012 What about a 4-3-3 with a Pilkington on LW and a Snodgrass at RW who cut inside off flicks from Holt/New striker who is more of a complete striker, a Howson behind them who can thread quality balls through, Johnson and Surman (Fox when he''s ready) as holding MFs, Garrido and Whittaker as constantly overlapping and crossing FBs and a strong partnership of Ayala (recall, recall!) and a new CB. With this tactic we have lots of strings to play on (playmaker, good shooting wingers cutting in, fullbacks overlapping, good finisher up front with both the head and the feet. I believe this is what will give us results this season, and it fits our team perfectly.
Chopper2007 0 Posted August 19, 2012 from what I saw of Pilkington yesterday he wouldnt be worthy of the bench, this is extreme but Barnett would have been better on the wing ......by the way £4 for a pie what a rip off.
Gingerpele 0 Posted August 19, 2012 4-3-3 with two wide men is essentially the same as 4-5-1. You still only have one man in the middle.
The Goal Threat 0 Posted August 19, 2012
4-3-3 with two wide men is essentially the same as 4-5-1. You still only have one man in the middle.
However, with wingers who cut in, you''ll get lots of space for Holt. Garrido and Whittaker are also known for overlapping/crossing. What you will see is that Pilks/Snoddy will cut inside a lot, dragging the full back out of position, creating space for our FBs who can make their trademark percise crosses onto the head/foot of Holt or the opposite winger. As for counter attacks, the holding midfielders on each side provide cover by going out wide to cover the opponent''s winger ;)
