Bill Taylor 0 Posted March 21, 2005 Nigel Worthington keeps telling us we are still learning but do the facts back this up-lets consider the evidence,if we split the current season in half the results are as followsFirst 15 league games - 1 Win,9 Draws, 5 Defeats points 12- the defeats included Man Utd,Arsenal,Liverpool,Everton)Next 15 league games- 2 Wins,2 Draws,11 Defeats points 8- we only played one team (Chelsea) in the current top 3I think you will agree that we do not appear to be making progress but going in the opposite direction.-overall we have scored only 6 goals in 15 away games ,including 2 in one game, and are now the only club not to have registered an away win all season. I think we all knew at the beginning of the season that it would be very difficult but have we really played to our potential at all times as whenever I have seen other teams on the television they have a much more positive approach in away games and do not defend as deep.Surely we should have learnt by now that this approach is a recipe for disaster and that the best form of defence is attack.I get the impression that despite brave words we do not always appear to have the determination and approach that is required in this league. Perhaps we should question where the motivation and desire comes from, surely part of this is down to the management team who persist with the current approach and do not appear to be able to get the players to master the art of basic defending especially freekicks and corners ,not really rocket science. Next season we must guard against any complacency and not believe that we shall be able to regain our premiership status without a vast improvement in basic techniques. stan the man 0 Posted March 21, 2005 We have learnt that worthy doesn''t realise that you can use THREE subs in a game, Worthy loves Fleming and Holt so much that even when they play sh*t week in week out their still first to be picked and Worthy has blindness for the whole game so when it comes to the post match interveiw he just repeats what he says week in week out "that i have to praise my players for their honesty and hard work". He clearly wasn''t watching our midfield against Bolton, Francis and Holt should be ashamed to pick up their wages!!!!. Bring on the fizzy League!!!!! BlyBlyBabes 0 Posted March 22, 2005 That many of us fans brought up on Saunders, Bond, Brown, Stringer and Walker know much more about top tier football than Mr Worthington. And that we need a sports psychologist on the staff to help both management and players.Serious business.OTBC. staffOTBC.
