nutty nigel 7,902 Posted February 22, 2012 Following on from Star''s excellent "40 point analysis" I thought I''d start an even more positive thread.Over the last year the maximum points total for a top half finish has been 52 in 2007. The lowest total was 46 in 2002. The average over those years is 49. We currently have 35 points from 25 games which works out at 1.4 points per game. Carrying that form through to the end of the season would give us 53 points which would have achieved a top half finish in each of the last 10 seasons. We do have some difficult fixtures coming up so it''s entirely possible our form will suffer. But I''d rather target the top half and re-adjust it downwards if neccessary than target 17th with the view that anything better is a bonus.
ncfcstar 342 Posted February 22, 2012 Completely agree Nutty. To be honest I think anything less than 10 points from our remaining 13 games should be seen as a bit of a failure. My pre-season prediction was 14th, and whilst this could still be on the cards I would like to think finishing somewhere between 45 and 50 points would see us finish somewhere between 8th and 12th. If we do finish as high as this then the season has been remarkable, and considering the development of the club over the last 2.5 years, probably one of our best league performances in history. Maybe not statistically but certainly in regards to resources and where we have emerged from.
