Fox and Croft Yesterday

Recommended Posts

One of my favourite players this year has been Johnson, as he can break up opposition attacks, and start up attacks for us all day long. He is full of energy (proved by the fact he covers more ground in a match more than any other PL player (something like that anyway! :P)), and poses a threat in both boxes from set plays etc. When I heard he was dropped/rested Yesterday, I was very surprised. But does anybody else agree that Crofts and in particular Fox were immense Yesterday? Just about every attack involved Fox, and he wasn''t afraid to put a foot/head in when needed. Crofts was here, there and everywhere, and it reminded me of last season, especially with Surman and Wes in midfield aswell! It''s a pity we can''t have Johnson, Fox and crofts as a midfield 3, but then we can''t play Wes, Surman or the wingers, or would have to go 1 up top again. Probably the best set of midfielders we''ve had in a long time, with Box to box players like Johnson and Crofts, playmakers like Fox, and skill and class with Wes and Surman. Then obviously there are the two wingers in Pilkington and Bennett. Good times!! (Sorry about a pretty long and fairly pointless thread, I got bored!)

I think Crofts and Johnson are two very different players. It''s just my opinion but I think Crofts is at his best when he is playing a similar role to that of Gerrard and Lampard for their respective clubs.

Crofts should be busting a gut to get into the box for all the knockdowns that Holt and Mozza will provide.

If Hoolahan were to get injured or needs a rest I would love to see a midfield 5 of Fox, Johnson, Crofts, Bennett, and Pilkington. Johnson holding, Fox spraying the play and Crofts bombing into the box with either Holt or Moz.

Crofts was very much at his best on Saturday because of the system we were playing, I''ve felt all season when we had the 2 midfielders sitting the 4231 formation Crofts struggled to get involved. However, in the diamond when he''s playing box to box and is constantly on the move he''s at his best.
