Are there any out there that know Liverpool well?Myself and a few other lads are planning to stay over for the night, when we play LFC in October. We are looking for decent pubs/bars in the city to head to.I went on one of their messageboards and Mathew St was suggested, but having looked it up on the web, it looks like a Prince of Wales Rd type place, and since we are mostly in our 40s/50s probably not quite what we are after!Dale St and Hartington St were also suggested, they also said to avoid Albert Dock.Any help would be appreciated.

I know Liverpool fairly well as I live just over the water in North Wales.

The thing that makes Liverpool a little bit different from other cities is the fact that a lot of "older" people do go out to the city at nights.

Matthew Street is probably exactly what you are after with plenty of bars and plenty of fun for all - one of my work colleagues regualarly goes out there with his friends, and he is 61 !! It gets a bit busy early doors, but most of the young ''uns will soon be off to Concert Square and the clubs later on, so it normally quietens down a bit.

If you want to avoid the clubbing crowd altogether, there are some good bars down near Albert Dock, but some of these have dress codes.
