Blurboy1980 36 Posted January 7, 2011 Saw this post here : http://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/07012011/58/world-cup-blatter-expects-winter-qatar-world-cup.html Here''s a funny thought though. Let''s say the World Cup is held in January and everyone who qualifies takes a full strength squad. There are European top flight teams who consist largely of international players from all over the world. These squads would be dessimated and the 2021/22 season could see Norwich winning the Treble in England, Malaga winning La Liga and Livorno winning Serie A! What a hoot!!! You never know, Celtic may win a second European Cup!!!! From John L, on Fri 7 Jan 1:12PM
Power Hamster 0 Posted January 7, 2011 Surely they will just take a mid season break. Start the season at the beginning of August, play through to the end of November, then have December for preparation, play the tournament in January, then restart the season mid-February and play through to the end of June. There won''t be a World Cup in the summer so there should be no problem for European countries to extend the season for as long as necessary.
