Is our relationship with Lambert a bit like having a relationship with a 'hottie'?

Recommended Posts

Very strange question I know but I have been mulling it over for a little while now.

For the purpose of this post when I say ''she'' please read ''he'' if it suits your perspective better (ie Kathy, Angel etc).

In my youth I dated a girl for nearly two years who I thought to be stunningly attractive. I was never the cockey lad so I always wondered if I was perhaps punching above my weight in terms of who I was dating. Now, I have learnt since that I was not, and that if anything I was being naive because ofcourse there is more to a relationship than just looks. It always appeared that I was more aware of the looks she was getting than she was herself, perhaps because she was content but perhaps also because she wasn''t the most confident either.

Is it the same with Lambert? Are we so scare that he is doing a fantastic job that part of us is always thinking that at any minute he will jump ship to someone we deam more ''worthy''?

It seems like that to me because every time there is a managerial vacancy someone appears to be linking him to it and arguing why they could see him leaving, more money, better squad etc.

Perhaps we are better off accepting that he is here for as long as he is here but he needs our full devotion and support and we should just ignore those that look on in admiration and instead of worry about it consider it as being a compliment for the way that he has turned this club around with ''our'' support.

We are worthy of having Lambert, and he has said so on many occaisions now.

And if any proof is needed I would cast everyone''s mind back to the Shef Utd game where we trailed 2-1 at half time and had it not been for one of the best corners of our season it would have been 2-0.

The first half had been frustrating and you could hear it in the crowd too. But we didn''t need a half time team talk, a rollicking, a hot word or a football boot to the face. The 2nd half from the support was probably one of the best atmospheres I have experienced as a Norwich supporter for some time and we never lost belief.

It was as much the crowd that one that game as any words from Lambert and he recognised that after the game.

In some games we would never have got the penalty. And again the entire Barcley and Snake Pit appealed for it on their feet and got it.

So lets not forget, our club is worthy of good people such as McNally and Lambert, lets embrace that, not question it.

I agree with that. This club is a sleeping giant, that needs somebody to awaken it. McNally sees that, we owe it all to McNally. I was 100% certain that Lambert sees that too, although I have no shame in admitting that I cannot be 100% sure now. I will add to your analogy, that if a relationship ends you simply pick yourself up and move on as quickly as possible. Often you will move on to bigger and better things, you find another relationship.

Ah, Mr.Walker - it seems that the depth of this story has missed you altogether, shame that.

The point is, she wasn''t more than worthy of me, I thought not to be her equal when the reality is I spent to much time worrying about it than realising that actually I was.

I don''t want Lambert to leave because by effectively saying he is too good for us we are pushing him away and giving him a reason to leave. That is what concerns me.

No I agree. He''s clearly top notch and destined for the very top, much like his playing career.

However, its important to remember that to date we are his biggest club, the Championship is the highest level he''s managed, and he''s got us out of Leage 1 hell and we''re going great guns. Lets just enjoy it while he''s here and worry about stuff when it happens. Too many worriers on here, you''ll make yourselves ill.
