Splendid Rush 0 Posted November 29, 2004 Did anyone else see Fleming''s hilarious irrational outburst at Svensson on Saturday. During our worst period of the match (the entire first half) Matty came back to help out for a set peice, managed to get the ball in his own box, took it out to the flank and passed it to Fleming. Flem then hoofed it into the Birmingham half, realised nobody was there, turned to Svensson and took his frustration out on him by vollying a barrage of abuse at him for not being up there!Svensson just shrugged and ran off. I just found it amusing (although also extremely frustrating at the time) that Fleming would accept a pass from a striker in the right back postion and then immediately expect him to be up front competing for the header. KidCanary 0 Posted November 29, 2004 He also had a pop at Drury, but rightly so in this case as he was moving out to the wingers far to slow and giving them the opportunity to cross.
Archie 0 Posted November 29, 2004 I too have noticed how Drury plays far too much in the middle - The winger is never marked tightly enough and ALWAYS gets the ball. Rarely are there any interceptions and the winger can always run at Drury and invariably pass himThis may be because Drury is busy covering for the two centre backs, but it needs to be addressed
KidCanary 0 Posted November 29, 2004 Archie the reason they do this is because when you defend your meant to move the attacking teams sideways, so you compact the defense a bit and force them out wide, your then meant to chase out quickly (the full backs) to close down the winger and force him to go back....rinse and repeat. Trouble is, quite often all this season both drury and particularly eddy have been very slow moving out resulting in a cross....
ob1 0 Posted November 29, 2004 During the Blackburn game, everyone was expect them to score. One of the Norwich fans behind the goal shouting "wake up City!" at Fleming when Rovers had a corner. Fleming them proceeded to spend the entire time staring the City of fan out. Stupidly, had Fleming actually bothered to take the advice and wake the hell up he might have picked up Paul Dickov and they might not have scored from that corner. He should spend more time concentrating on the game than trying to look hard by staring out his own fans.
