Paul Lambert .... A great manager

Recommended Posts

When was the last time a manager has achieved two away victories in the same season, scoring 7 goals ?????

Has Alex ferguson achieved that ? I think not !!!!

Well done Paul !! You are a legend already this season !!  [<:o)]

There''s no denying that Paul Lambert has in a couple of months completely turned this club around. In fact it is remarkable given the appalling start to the season we had. When we lost at Brentford I was seriously worried. But as others keep saying, it looks like we finally have a ''proper'' manager, who commands the respect of the players (he did win the Champions League) and is fair to them without having favourites (if you play well you keep the shirt). He also plays to the players'' strengths rather than ask them to fill roles unsuited to them (the diamond formation, rather than say ask Darel Russell to play wide right or as a striker where is much less effective).

I personally think, the way we are playing, and despite Leeds'' lofty position in League 1, our first 11 is the best team outside of the Championship. If we can keep this team together (and that means preventing any sales in January, which worries me a lot) and injury free, I am confident we are going up automatically. Our weakness is a complete lack of depth in our squad in terms of quality. Outside of today''s starting 11, we only really have Hughes, Ostemobor and Spillane (bar Forster) who I consider good enough to ensure we make automatic promotion. The likes of Gill, Tudor Jones, McVeigh, Wiggins, Cureton and McDonald haven''t yet convinced me sufficiently that they have sufficient quality to deliver results week in week out. The other youngsters all look a bit raw for me (Adeyemi / Daley) but in time they might develop sufficent quality. If we can avoid too many injuries, the odd deputisation by the afore mentioned few, we might just scrape home. It would be nice to have a bit of help in January. Anyone win the Euro Millions this weekend?!
