Birmingham takeover close.....

Recommended Posts

Sky sports understands that Carson Yeung has launched a formal bid to buy Birmingham City. The bid is believed to be 81.5 million and everyone seems confident the deal will go through by the end of October.

Come on David Sullivan and David Gold, we''re all yours!!

If I remember correctly the rumour was more involving Sullivan than Gold, so Gold staying at Brum wouldn''t necessarily scupper anything....not that I necessarily believe it to have much in the way of legs.

Gold''s idea of staying on look more like wishful thinking than anything very well-founded. As Sky Sports put it:

Gold hopes he will be allowed to remain part of the set-up at Birmingham,

but has made it clear that he will not accept a back-seat post at a

club he has helped build.

"I want to make it clear that I am not a willing seller," Gold told the Birmingham Mail. "I never have been. And I would sincerely hope I could stay on in some capacity. Not as a

nodding dog you see on the back shelf of a car, but in a role

whereby I could take an active part in the running of the football club.

"It

has been mooted that they might want to do that but Carson Yeung may

bring in his own people. But certainly, even if for a transitional

period, I would be happy to stay involved."

Given

his continued antagonism to Yeung, and given that Gold is selling ALL

his shares, I rather doubt any involvement would be for long.

As to the length of the legs of the Gold/Sullivan/Norwich story...
