Yorkshire Canary 118 Posted February 2, 2009 It has been obvious for a long time that strong physical sides do better in the championship.Roeder emphasised the fact and then went on to get little players. In the last 2 days Gunn has added 3 6 footers who all will probably be regulars in the side/squad . This will make us a different team to beat and should make us much more of a threat from set peices. Overall i am pretty happy with recent events especially as both killen and Gow are here with a view to staying if the loans work out
Canary_on_the Trent 0 Posted February 2, 2009 we''ve struggled in recent years due to being considerably smaller than the opposition, at times we''ve gone into games with just 1 player over the 6ft mark
Yellowbeagle 0 Posted February 2, 2009 It''s not just about being 6ft it''s about being tough especially at centre back to often this season have our centre backs given opponents an easy ride physically, i doubt very much if many strikers have gone off the pitch thinking they had been dominated physically by us. It would definetly help on set pieces having the extra height, for years we hardly ever seem to score of corners or free kicks but we also want to play football and tall, physical players who can pass the ball well dont tend to be at clubs like ours, or not for very long.
