beltoncanary 0 Posted January 6, 2009 it just seems strange that we are a week into the transfer window and still no news on a new deal for croft. surely other clubs are now circling him knowing hes out of conract in a few months and are ready to snap him up on a cheap.another nail in roeders coffin? Canary Poirot 1 Posted January 6, 2009
think they will offer him a 50% pay cut and expect him to stay
I don''t want to be the harbringer of doom but I think you might be right. And to be fair to Norwich, with our current financial situation it would be correct to offer him a reduced deal. We NEED to half the wage bill by all accounts. And it can hardly be said the current crop of players are justifying their enhanced earnings. We''re being out competed by sides with significantly lower wage bills by all accounts this season. Let our current crop of players try and get better deals elsewhere. Gary Doherty tried last summer and ended up signing for us. I think a reality check is coming for football in the Championship, and wages are going to start to slide. If Croft can get better elsewhere, good luck to him. Will he be missed? Maybe, maybe not. Can''t fault his endeavour, he''s got quality at this level, and he could get better, but so often he flatters to decieve with poor final balls.
