Hi All, I know rumours posted by first time posters are met with understandable criticism, but there''s no harm in this one as a) it''s true, and b) there''s nothing we can do about it as the player ending up going to another team..

Basically, the boyfriend of a friend of my wife''s works for a production company working on creating workwide televisions shows for football and as such occasionally hears news which doesn''t always make the press..

Anyway, what he told me the other night - we made an effort to take Tomas Pekhart (a young striker from spurs) on loan earlier this week, but they choose to send him to Southampton instead. Apparently we''ve really missed out as the guy is meant to be very promising.  I know this isn''t a juicy rumour because of the fact that it didn''t happen but always good to know what type of players we''re going for..

Out of interest, the other news he''d heard recently.. Corluka had all but signed for Spurs (as in, had signed a contract and all the papers were in with the F.A. bar Man City''s) until Mark Hughes found out that this had gone on behind his back and demanded that the board let him replace him before they sell him.. So expect this one to go through before Monday night.

As for Berbatov, apparently it was a done deal at the start of this week before someone in the spurs boardroom threw a spanner in the works - this guy is now not sure if anything will actually happen here as relations are less than friendly between the two boards.

The only other jucy gossip he had is that the 39th game, in it''s current format, is as good as dead.. but they''re looking at adding a ''premier league cup'' (knockout format) in which all games are played abroad in various countrys. This might mean that all premier league teams will drop out of the carling cup.

[/quote]That does make sense, particularly as Southampton loaned Raziak to Watford for the season which freed up (a) wages and (b) a squad place.
