4-2-3-1?

Full backs provide the width with twoholding midfielders to cover when they go forward. By all accounts Clingan is quite tidy on the ball sohe and Fozzy should be able to ensure that we pass the ball out from the back. If we need to be morecombative in midfield then Russell comes in. Bell/Croft, Hoolahan and Chadwicks positions are interchangeable. Still need a striker with pace and the ability to hold the ball up front as I don''t think Martin is capable of that. Would also like to see a genuine goal scoring midfielder, think Damien Francis, so Hoolahan could maybe take Chadwicks place. What do you think?

I''d move Fozzy where Hoolahan is and move Hoolahan out to the wing where Chadders is.

Who plays on the right however is a big conundrum as Chadwick looked mighty impressive against Town but Crofty looks to be improving too.

Has Bell actually signed yet btw?

If we get Lupoli though, i''d like to see him with a big man helping him, like Sibierski or someone. (Doc anyone!... lol)

Sounds good in principle (especially if we get a good striker). However, regardless of the manager or personnel down the years, City only ever seem comfortable playing 4-4-2 with at least one flying winger and a big man up front. It just seems to be our style.

No place even on the bench for Bertrand? did you not see how good he was last year? expect Drury to have a place on that bench this year

4-4-2 or 4-5-1

this league isnt made for fancy dancy tactics and formations.

[/quote]Balls.In a league this tight a ''fancy dancy formation'' might well make all the difference.

I proposed this in a thread a while back,  If we only get in one more stirker we could well be looking at this type of formation to maximise the midfielders.  Also this formation would allow Hoolahan a more central role.  It an interesting one and used by  more and more teams at the minute.Ths problem is that the striker HAS to hold that ball up and distribut it well.
