Sport Scientist and Kit man told to leave

Recommended Posts

Norwich City have confirmed that long-serving sports scientist Dave Carolan has left the club.

Three weeks after describing an Evening News report of Carolan''s departure as “inaccurate”, the Canaries announced on their official website that Carolan, head of sports science, was “leaving to explore new opportunities in the field” after 10 years at Colney.

The Irishman joined City in 1998 when Bruce Rioch was appointed as manager and worked under five managers in all.

He is described by the club announcement as being “responsible for modernising the Canaries'' fitness programme to keep pace with the changing demands of professional football”.

Carolan said: “I thoroughly enjoyed my ten seasons at Norwich City Football Club in which we experienced some great highs and some disappointing lows. Reaching the play-off final and promotion to the Premiership will forever be memories linking me to fantastic times at Norwich.

“It has been my pleasure to work with fantastic players, and excellent staff - and to serve an outstanding club which is unique in the world of football.

“With my expertise and experience I can look forward to working in other sports at elite level and will take my knowledge to work with and help other professional sportsmen and women and highly-motivated individuals looking to improve their fitness.

“I look forward to success returning on the pitch at next season at Carrow Road, where I will be returning with my children to support the club in the place we call home.”

Manager Glenn Roeder said: “Dave has worked very hard over the years to keep the club abreast of the expanding area of sports science and the opportunities and changes it brings to the modern game. I''d like to wish him well in whatever challenge he moves on to next and to thank him for his efforts for Norwich City.”

Patience Wiz, patience, GR did say towards the end of last season that we wouldn''t recognise the squad by the time he had finished.

It appears the culling continues, he will have a plan otherwise he will end up with a MAJOR omlette on his face and I''m sure he wouldn''t want that on his CV!!!!
