Rupethebear 0 Posted April 9, 2008 I believe the recent comments in the press by Hucks and his agent is just a way of playing hard ball, a bit like during the end of his loan deal. In my view both parties know what they are up to and it is a classic negociation. I would suggest that Hucks is the highest wage earner at Carrow Road, as he has been the star player for the last 4 years. As he is proabably earning a lot more than the next highest earner the club are looking to re sign him on a much lower base, more in line with the other top earners, other wise Roeder knows he can have 2 players for the same wages. Therefore, in reality, if he signs a new deal it could be on a lower wage but still a very decent amount, (wish I got £10K a week), and possibly more than he knows he can get elsewhere. This is his club, he loves it here, we love him and once we are confirmed as safe from relegation I think he will sign a new one year deal before he goes on his holidays! Before that watch him score on his 200th appearance against the Scum, bring them on, see you there!! ricardo 8,034 Posted April 9, 2008 I would love to see him get another year but I believe GR would rather have two players for the price of Hucks. I hope I am wrong but I think this is the way GR is thinking.
Mr.Carrow 394 Posted April 10, 2008 I think that if the club are genuinely going to have a good stab at building a squad to challenge the top 6 in the summer, then signing Hucks on for another year would be a very good first step. He has obviously been disillusioned by the lack of ambition since relegation so if we are going to actually show some we could well see a more positive, fired-up Hucks. And i agree that his wages would probably be falling to a more realistic level to reflect his age. Read the other day that he`s scored 49 goals in 199 games which is a better ratio than i thought.
