In the Evening News talking about losing Hucks today he is obviously gutted, and although he is used to working on a shoe string I wonder if we don''t see another Mike Walker situation where he wonders what he can achieve with a bit of cash. He has received the backing of the board whenever his desires have been realistic and the Hucks /Crouch commitment made me believe we were entering a new era, but surely our manager of the month can only take so much of the "no, you cannot have him" feedback. Again it comes down to the Board, if Nige is expected to take us up but is not given the financial backing, then blasted by the board for not meeting his objective then he has cause for a grumble, but the fact is I cannot see Nigel being put under any pressure by the board as our financial situation can only mean that mid table consolidation is the boards acceptable target and anything else is a bonus. There is only so long a manager can play the "how well can i do with sod all?" game before the what ifs must enter his head. NW is really in a comfy position, he has shown what he can do when he has quality, he was allowed to play a bit there by Doomcaster, but if that quality is not made more readily available and Norwich aren''t promoted is it NW''s fault? I think not. Now I know that the board would love us to be promoted, but that will remain a desire the same as any other football club, fact is fans like you and me will just have to wait, see and hope or buy the bloody players for them....hang on a minute...... John Boubepo 0 Posted December 11, 2003 I feel that recent managers at Norwich have been poor, either they have been poor by their own merit or have been assisted by a tight fisted board which made them look poorer than they actually were. In the case of NW - overall I don''t rate him too highly either, [sorry but I''m being honest] I think he''s probably the best of a recent poor bunch but has also been given more time and in some cases more money than most.
