gissing canary 2 Posted January 8, 2008 Glenn is clearly doing some real clearing out in Jan, and I can imagine that he will get the rest of them out in the summer, so I am wondering what people think our squad will look like next season?GK: Marshall, Gilks and Arnold seem pretty comfortable.DEF: Semmy, Drury, Shackel, Iliev, Doc?? - as his contract is up? Ramage??I think he will get rid of all the youngsters, as he hasnt been inclined to play them, at Newcastle he gave them options, but clearly does not rate them. Docs contract is up and if we can afford it, or if he would sign with more competition? Still short on numbers though.MID: Fozzy, Russell, Pattison, Croft, Chadwick, Spillane?? Smart??I cant see Lappin surviving the cull, or Brellier. And I would be surprised if Hucks gets a new deal, he is a legend and I will always be greatful, but this season he has been poor and with his wages, I guess Glenn will opt for someone different.ATT: Cureton, Martin, Ameobi??The rest will all go in my opinion, Jarvis, Brown, Dave.....And Dion to retireTherefore for next year, it looks like we will badly need at least one left sided player and a striker or two, but with the right additions, playoffs is not unlikely, but it does become clear how much we need a new forward line. I know Glen has been laying into him, but might be to motivate him to get him going?You think he will go then, I dont think Glen would try and replace 3of the 4 strikers? chicken 0 Posted January 8, 2008 Martin is 19 - Jarvis is 21, I wouldn''t call that a lot.I think we will see Brown go as rumoured and possibly Jarvis as he has threatened - it does seem that Martin is being given untill the summer. As for Strihavka - so far nothing has been said about him. A bit like Brown really - he has never come out and said that he is not putting in the effort. I just don''t think it is happening for him here, some players need to drop down a level to find their form and get back in the habbit of scoring - I think he is a good example of that, another player that was not loaned out enough as a youngster by Sunderland.I think Strihavka will be given untill the summer, he has a compatriot arriving that may help him adjust/settle in and although people love to slate him, he has got good attributes such as a decent first touch and a good turn of pace. Again when he has played he has put in the effort - he is not one of the guys out there who has been playing week in week out and really not doing their job properly.
