bigbear 0 Posted February 19, 2007 Unfortunately I had a very busy day Saturday and wasn''t able to make the match Saturday, though I wish I did. I always suspected that we would lose 3 or 4-0 but after sneaking my headphones on to listen to quite a bit of the game, obviously I was quite gutted to lose like that. I pretty much got it spot on to a bloke at work, mentioning that Forest were outplayed from 1st min to last min and let in 2 or 3 (can''t remember which), and knowing our luck said that we would play much better than them but possibly lose by a bigger goal margin. Chelsea had probably half the number of chances than they did against Forest, the majority of those shots seemed to be speculative long range efforts. So apart from possibly closing down quicker to players just outside the box, all I can say about the game, is WELL DONE LADS! They gave it a good go, and as per usual, didn''t get our just rewards.I know that everyone is saying that we can take on performances like that, I just hope they do. It bad enough being a sipporter, but the players must be totally gutted. I just hope it doesn''t demoralise them too much, it might take a couple of games to get it out of their system, but I hope not, as we have to get away from the relegation places and start building for next season. Carrowfortress 0 Posted February 19, 2007 They have nothing to be demoralised about.I watched the game and thought we played excellently.
lucky green trainers 0 Posted February 19, 2007 playing well against bigger clubs can give teams confidence. southend played spurs twice in cup games and ran them close each time - was it no coincidence that after their league form has improved leaps and bounds - as in ''if you can give spurs a good game lads, then you can also do it against the likes of hull!'' Broken_hearted_canary 0 Posted February 19, 2007 One of the main reasons it was 4-0 is that Grant decided to go for broke around the 80 min mark - throwing dublin up front and having three at the back. This enabled city to have a bit of pressure but ended costing us.i for one am quite pleased Grant went there with the mindset to score - it could have been easy to keep 4 at the back and then say - ''hey chelsea 2-0 not a bad score''
Cluck 0 Posted February 19, 2007 Demoralised? Nah...we only lost 4-0 to a cantering Chelsea....so they must be feeling on top of the world!Pathetic.
Carlos Valderrama 0 Posted February 19, 2007 Chelsea certainly didn''t canter, 2 sucker punch goals at the death has made the scoreline look bad. Bigger and better teams than us haven''t matched that sort of performance. And lets not forget that the 200 million pound team are reigning premiership champions. There are plenty of positives to take from the game. And anything negative will be a good learning experience. Pathetic is way too harsh, great performance is way too complimentary. In my book a decent performance, if we play like that in the championship there wont be too many sides who will get the better of us. And what is even more pleasing is that we battled and played ok AWAY from home. A trait that has been sorely lacking for a while....
