The silence is deafening

Normally to gauge some sort of opinion, message boards like this come in handy.  I know that many from Archant use this forum alot when writing articles,  so how peeved off do you think that the board and Delia must be to see the reaction from her ''If the right offer comes in'' statement has been met with a few ''Come and get us'' posts and nothing much really  jumping to her defence? I believe the tide has been rightly turning against the board for some while now, and the fact that most people seem to be hoping for a change of ownership speaks volumes. For ten years we have been lead up the garden path.  The lack of transfer activity shows that the powers that be are not willing to back their own manager and put their money where their mouths are.  What is really happening is that they are all sitting there with their fingers, toes and legs crossed that we can ride out this season, get rid of some higher earners, blame the manager for poor results and start afresh with cheap buys and no quality, ala the Bryan Hamilton and Bruce Rioch dreamteam!Mind you, re-mortgaging Carra road or even selling off the last of the assets to raise a few pennies to buy some more inept talentless journeymen wouldnt surprise me!

This forum is the "virtual" world.......In the real world you would be hard pressed to find such a positive ratio in DS and Co''s favour.

The recent glum statement regarding the club "seeking new investment" is evidence that the fairy tale is coming to a sticky end. They are hopelessly out of their depth and sinking....taking this once fine club down with them.

In truth Cluck, how else can anyone hope to move forward without new investment? especially when taking into account the vast amounts the Prem teams will soon be earning. Let''s face it; even if we (or any other Championship club) were breaking even at the time of promotion, the £30m windfall would buy virtually nothing of note to be truly competetive in the Premiership, making that the absolute minimum spend required. Otherwise, all that remains is fighting for survival year in, year out taking the £30m each season while the movers and shakers rob us of obvious talent and the gap between the upper and lower echelons grows wider still; in the meantime, those left below in the Championship just sit back and wonder as the void grows deeper before them.

While I don''t agree that the board is doing all it can to ensure upward motion, I do agree with Delia''s comments that there would be little point in her and MWJ just taking their share of the cash and leaving the club in exactly the same position financially. Whoever might be thinking of coming in must be made aware that they need to make significant extra funds available.

Actually WMC...that is a very good post and I can''t argue with most of what you say if we just look at where we are in isolation. The fact is though that we have been dumped here by years of blinkered vision by this Board, who have shown no ambition whatsoever to take us further. The year in the Premiership was all about income....and consolidation at that level was never an issue. The club is being run like a restaurant rather than a football club....and while a decent chef can hide cheap ingredients in a souffle''....you can''t do the same with cheap players on a football pitch.

The whole emphasis of DS''s tenure has been infrastructure and corporate leisure....and yet Robert Chase is villified for doing the same thing. Why is that I wonder? A good PR job may I venture to guess?

I''ve often said that I would rather see a gutsy City side re-emerge from relegation to League One, than suffer more years of the same under the present regime. Football to me is all about passion and commitment....not just winning and promotion. Give me decent performances outside the Premiership and I will be content.....but this tripe we are witnessing today, backed up by a sugary candy floss image does my head in. The Prem is not the be all and end all....but effort in return for my investment is.

I can''t argue with your post either. Your last paragraph ought to be printed on the dressing room wall. I''ve become so disheartened with performances of those cheap players this season that I''ve cancelled my away season ticket after four years, preferring to go as and when I please, rather than being obliged to do so. Some might call me a glory hunter for only wanting good times, but following some of the dross I''ve seen so far, I simply can''t face a Preston trip on a cold Tuesday night, knowing full well what to expect when I got there.

I don''t know exactly how we move forward; there are plenty of ideas obviously, but a Phoenix rising from this mess at present looks unlikely without spending serious cash..cash which isn''t or can''t be forthcoming. Conversely, neither can I see much in the way of a financial knight in shining armour looming on the horizon.
