YankeeCanary 0 Posted December 7, 2006 The years have passed and my wife looks more than a little jaded. Strange that I look almost the same as I did 40 plus years ago. I wonder if it’s time for me to get a new lady. There are so many gorgeous ones walking around. Surprisingly, even at my advanced years, once in a while I still get a lingering look from a very pretty lady. I would be less than honest if I did not admit that the fantasy of re-igniting my quiet, dull life by embarking on an adventurous one with a new foxy lady does not cross my mind on occasion ( particularly when I’m in a fully reclined position in my Lazy-Boy…unshaven and only semi-conscious ). Once in a while I’ll prod my wife to change her habits so that she can enhance her attractiveness to me. “Be a little more adventurous” I’ll say. “Do a little more exercise, it will stimulate you.” I really wish she would stop smoking. It would please me if she took a little more interest in investments. After all, how would she survive without me? Some of those junky television shows she watches just about drives me out of my mind….and some say men love to get their hands on that remote control. I tell her that we should take a look at this year’s Mercedes models. It’s no less than I deserve. Can’t get my wife’s attention….she’s busy clipping the discount coupons out of the newspaper for grocery shopping. It’s clear to me that she has no ambition to be better than what she is. Her habits certainly leave a lot to be desired. None of mine need changing of course. Oh! I’m awake. Forgive me my transgressions on what just passed through my mind. Of course, many of us may be subject to little fantasies from time to time. The moral always is “Be careful what you wish for.” I learned a long time ago that when I go to dance I’m better off coming home “with the gal I brung.” For those of you that want to kick “our lady” out, you may think that’s the answer, but it clearly is not, at least not for some of you that are the most vocal for the reasons you put forth. If Delia is forced out, do you think Wizard will all of a sudden lose his mistrust in ANY BOARD? As it is NEVER prudent for any football club to lay itself bare with all truth revealed, do you think Mystic Megson will be satisfied with the information provided from new owners? When the top football talent from around the world arrives on our shores to pluck the gold that is available in some British locales, do you think NCFC will be at the front of the queue to participate in the bidding? Cluck is convinced that those in charge at our club are complacent. That’s how I feel about my wife sometimes Cluck. God forbid that she ever comes close to telling me what she really thinks about me. As for Ray Ducker’s questioning of what has happened to his love affair of fifty years, I would say you’ve seen good times and bad Ray. And you know it, but you’ve given to your club and it’s given back. You belong together through thick and thin. Keep loving your club the way you always have because you are going to your grave with it. Getting back to my wife, although I do sometimes forget, she is a wonderful woman and I have found that if there are things I really would like to see us, as a couple, do better, then praise rather than moaning always seems to do the trick. I did not get the Mercedes but I did get a new car.
mbncfc 1 Posted December 8, 2006 What a beautiful post YC... [:''(]In all honesty, if we started doing well on the pitch, if we got promoted in two or three seasons, people would be happy. We''re not doing as well as we would like, so they''re not - and that is probably the current feeling at well over half of the league clubs right now...People will have issues, suggestions and criticisms constantly on this club, but only every so often will those issues be met with consensus and result in action. As is the case now, while it is right to question what is happening, in some ways you do have to let time flow. The posts this week are indicative of losing our last match and waiting 7 days for another. I know the concerns of some are founded on much more, but the level of backing up from others does fit into that bracket IMO.Roll on Saturday, roll on January I say... Mello Yello 2,572 Posted December 8, 2006 True story this:I knew a bloke who was 50 and has been married 30 years........Well anyway, this bloke was sitting in a restaurant with his wife who absolutely idolised this bloke. Whilst dining, he cracked open a bottle of wine - then suddenly, "PHOOF!" a Lucky Fairy suddenly appeared on the table and said, "Congratulations! I am the Lucky Fairy of long lastin'' and lovin'' relationships.....and, I grant you marvellous couple a wish each!" The adoring wife said "all I would ever wish for, is to live happily for the rest of my life with my dear and most wonderful hubby"..........Lucky Fairy waves her magic wand "ZAP! KAPOOF! and the Lucky Fairy said, "your wish is now granted m''dear!" Unfortunately, the husband replied, "Sadly darling, my feelings aren''t mutual, we''ve had some good times but, I do wish I had a female companion who was 30 years younger"........His dear wife''s jaw dropped, and tears streamed down her face with sadness and disbelief.........Then, with a wry smile and twinkle in her eye, the Lucky Fairy waved her magic wand......"ZAP! KAPOOF!" and aged the rotten sod of a husband 30 years........He''d forgotten that the Lucky Fairy was female..........
