Christoph Stiepermann 1,138 Posted February 12, 2023 One thing Lambert and Farke had to work with was a recently refreshed squad with players who didn't have many battle scars so confidence was easy to build and maintain. Too many players in this team (and all of the leaders) have had their confidence battered by 2 relegation's and any confidence we do build is fragile and quickly disappears when things get tough. Next season we need to let pretty much all of the out of contract players go, hopefully sell one or two and bring in a lot of new faces who will be motivated for the challenge of a promotion push. We haven't got a lot of money so it'll be a lot of cheaper gambles again so Webber will have to prove his worth. Yes players like Krul/Hanley/Aarons/McLean are good at this level on their day but they're now damaged goods here and they need a move and a fresh challenge and we need new leaders. I'd keep Pukki if we can because he just does his thing and doesn't need motivating but the rest should go, have a proper clear out and see what Wagner can do with a new squad.
