Eyes on the Championship

Agree with this, Smith will want to make his mark on the squad and get players in to play the way he wants to play. I can see there being a few shock exits to reduce an already bloated squad. You've already listed about 10 players who realistically won't be here at the start of next season.

Honestly wouldnt shock me if Krul moves on either.

Gunn McGovern Byram, Mumba, Mcallum, Hanley, Gibson, Omobamidele Sorensen, McLean, Tzolis, Idah, Sargent

Are about the only ones I'd feel confident betting they are still here come August.

As always in the Championship, any club that just misses out on promotion is likely to lose a star player or two as EPL vultures offer big money that championship clubs cannot refuse.

So if we go down, it is unlikely that those clubs discussed above that are performing well at the moment will retain the squad to repeat that performance.  With parachute payments and if we retain most of the current squad we will be challenging for automatic promotion again (if we are relegated).

Such is the current state of English football.
