Pete Raven 276 Posted September 8, 2005 Delia Smith’s Carrow Road kitchen has been beaten into second place in a poll to find the football stadium with the best value food. The Canaries beat almost every other team in the football league but were pipped to first place by Bristol Rovers’ Memorial Ground. The most over-priced food, according to fans, is to be found at Reading. The survey, which asked football fans to rate their own club’s stadium as well as other grounds they had visited, was carried out by property consultants Drivers Jonas.Fans were asked to choose grounds on various criteria, including comfort, ease of access and food.Old Trafford came out as the favourite venue overall. The City of Manchester Stadium claimed the number two spot with Newcastle third, Reading fourth and Sunderland fifth among venues the fans most enjoy visiting.Bolton, Chelsea, Derby, Hull and Aston Villa completed the top ten favourites in the study by Drivers Jonas, the property consultants who commissioned the research. When asked which stadia were the best across a range of criteria from comfort, food quality to ease of access, the results tell a different story. Hull’s KC stadium came top followed by Sunderland, Derby, Reading and Southampton who edged into the top five best venues just ahead of Arsenal in sixth with Manchester United relegated to thirteenth.
