Congratulations Holmes another crime solved. You take yourself far to seriously mate.
After falling out with your friend Mr Tilson you pretty much proceeded to accuse me of being a liar, without any foundation, and in full knowledge that the only way to disprove that would be to reveal my name. Seeing as I don''t want to reveal my name, something which I am fully entitled not to do, it appears that you are going to continually provide me with a link that you seem to have bookmarked. After ''pretty much calling me a liar'' you taunted me for not understanding a word.So after accusing me of being a liar, and taunting my vocabulary, I give a little back to you. You subsequently informed me that you had begun to stop percieving me as a ''douche'' and had now changed your mind. I find it amusing that all things considered, after being accused of dishonesty and having my vocabulary taunted, it is you who considers me to be a ''douche''. But most of all, I find it amusing that you think that I for some reason desire or need your approval. I will struggle to sleep tonight because I blew of chance of being moved from Nexus Canary''s ''douche'' list to his ''not douche'' list. What''s your full name, facebook URL, twitter address, email address, telephone number, home address, and date of birth? I don''t have any real reason to ask, it''s only that if you don''t tell me, I''m going to move you to my douche list. Above all, the most irritating thing about you is the fact that you use the word ''douche'', which is an American word. A ''douche'' is a v*ginal irrigation. You are calling me a ''v*ginal irrigation'', only a v*ginal irrigation isn''t an object, it is a process, an action. A ''douche bag'' on the other hand is the bag used in the process, which gets full with the end product of a v*ginal irrigation. That''s like me intending to insult you by calling you a p*nis but ending up calling you a p*nis scratch. You big p*nis scratch.
 6.
The point about the number of football clubs outside the Premier League is a good one. There is going to come a financial day of reckoning when many clubs are wiped out in their current incarnation, and we''ll have to go back to restructure the football pyramid again.  Things cannot continue as they are, and the number of clubs who probably scrape by on a week to week basis with overdrafts, loans, extensions on repayments etc. will not continue.  Plymouth are already perilously close to folding.  Portsmouth limp on with about 17 players. Everton can''t raise any more money to buy players, and it''s only going to get worse for clubs outside the Prem as banks and creditors tighten up their balance sheets and call in unpaid debts.  As long as we use the Premiership money wisely to guarantee our financial solvency and make sure the club is on a sound financial footing for the future, then for me this Premiership season is all about doing our best and not over-reaching and if we go down again then not being lumbered with Jimmy Bullard-style contracts or "doing a Leeds" and completely imploding.  I''d take 17th place right now, of course, but I believe we need to use this season to ensure our long term future.
I had no idea Portsmouth still had that same squad, bet they are waiting for a few big contracts to expire. Shocked that Kanu is still playing (especially as he is supposed to be 43 years old). Kanu has scored 3 goals in his last 38 games.

 8.

Everybody on here was talking about how good Mark Halsey is as a ref before the game? Or was that another game? If they were, then we can just put it down to an off day, they happen. We won''t be the only team feeling hard done by when it comes to refs this year, sometimes you get the luck and sometimes you don''t. I think it is a dangerous game to play to start to believe that you are being persecuted, it is a form of negativity and for players it can really get to them. I think we should all remember the luck that we got in League One, and to a certain degree the Championship. In League One we lost a lot of friends who thought that refs were bias towards us, and Holt has gone down easily a lot over the past two years and is paying the price a little for that now I suspect. Things might even themselves out, we tend to remember the things that go against us and forget the things that go our way.
Yes im feeling hard done by but simply because its the 4th game in and in each game we''ve had a decision go wrongly against us.
That''s your opinion, I don''t think that all 4 were incorrect decisions. The Ruddy sending off was clear cut to me. The Barnett one was either a penalty and a yellow or a free kick and a red. Yes it should have been a free kick, but he missed the penalty. If he had given a free kick and sent him off, which would probably have been the right decision, we still would have played with 10 men. I think the penalty save actually gave the players a buzz and was the reason we played so well with 10 men, so you could say that a free kick and red card could have had worse consequences, Stoke heads went down for a while after that. The De Laet one was harsh, yes, but we see them given every other week. He did touch him, and it was in the area. Not touching any opposition player in the penalty area is probably the best policy, De Laet is prone to rash decisions, we have all seen that. It was 60/40, with the ref siding with the 40, but if you don''t touch them that 40 doesn''t exist.  For me, the most damaging and clear cut mistake, and the only one worth complaining about formally, was the Vaughan elbow yesterday which should have given us a penalty. I personally blame refereeing decisions for the loss of 1 point, and that was yesterday. It was gutting and truly lost us the point.
 9.
Wigan - WStoke - DChelsea - LWBA - D5 points was my optimistic expectation.
Mine was similar to yours, only I thought we would draw at Wigan and win against West Brom... so mine was....Wigan - DStoke - DChelsea - LWBA - W So yesterday for me was the day the season went off track, but on reflection it did make me realise that I shouldn''t have been so negative and panicky on here..... we are only really one result away from my expectations, and I shouldn''t have doubted Hodgson. Still a poor result, I really didn''t expect defeat, but the other three games have met my expectations and I thought we were brilliant against Stoke.
 10.
I am also feeling a bit more positive and its helped by the fact I just watched the game again on sky plus and we looked a lot better than I thought we might. The difference was the cutting edge (or more accurately the perceived threat) Odemwegie gave them in attack but actually we knocked it around quite nicely, played with good intensity and created quite a lot of good situations. We actually had quite a few reasonable chances but failed to work the keeper when we really should have done. Had we not snatched at our chances then Foster would have been quite busy. Its not like we are being completely outplayed in any of these games. The ball is just not falling for us and we need to get a bit sharper up front and learn quickly. Even during that game, however, it was evident that the defence were learning as they adjusted after half time, played a bit deeper and their front two looked less of a threat. In summary, therefore, it was a disappointing day and we definitely need to sharpen up a bit but we have been competitive in every game and with Wes in the team and a bit more pace up front I still think we have a chance of staying out of the bottom three come the end of the season.
Wish I had Sky Plus, keep meaning to but never get round to it, probably would have done by now if I had known that MOTD wasn''t on iPlayer! As for the chances, I think Chris Martin looks like he just needs a goal, but do we have the time to wait for him to get that goal? I think he is going to have to score that goal off of the bench, because I think he has had 3 or 4 chances this year that were crying out for Simeon Jackson on the end of the them. We all know that Martin can finish, but his game is just lacking that cutting edge, he has done everything else perfectly.
 11.
I do think there are positives, but they may also be seen as pretty harsh. Surman should be dropped for the next game. I am a big fan of flair players but he was very lightweight yesterday. Showed no flair, showed why Lansbury was put ahead of him a few times last season. Hoolahan for sure is in place of surman. Vaughan should start, Lambert should fire him up saying to use that anger from the end of the game and use it to have a headline grabbing performance against Bolton. Chris Martin on the bench. That game and the other 3 games have all had mistakes, as I have said before these have to be ironed out and in the prem. you don''t have time for it to take any time. Hence a great week in training, where all the disappointments of the first four games are channel''d into positive energy for this game to prove a point. I am still expecting us to be in a battle for 17th, but there is no time to waste. We need to want this game more than Bolton and a first away win in the prem for years. I think still the lingering disappointment is the way that stoke nicked two points from us with that last minute goal. We need to learn on how to get a lead and keep it. At the moment premiership teams are thinking Norwich will have possession and play nice football. They however have no genuine threat and if we put pressure on them at the back we will score. Two huge games coming up, we need 4 points. I am just not so sure we will see 4 points from the showings so far this season. I beleive we would have six points by now with a win over wigan and a win over wba, we now need to pick up points from tougher oppositions. God I want Saturday to get here quick and I am sure the players do. We need to use the anger of injustices from refs, injustices from elbows to really spark our first 11 in this game. Because if we continue at this rate we will be looking desperate and then achieving a win will be seens a big feat by some fans. It is not, that is a desperate view. We need a run of points and only could you really celebrate if we do get 17th place at the end of the season. Every result along the way is to achieve that status.
Agree with nearly all of that, but not sure if Vaughan will be able to play? He had to see a plastic surgeon and the doctors might not be happy about him potentially getting another whack so soon after surgery? Not worth scarring yourself for life for 90 minutes of football. If Vaughan is fit, I wouldn''t be able to choose between Jackson and Vaughan. I think they both deserve their chance. I think it would be harsh on Chris Martin because he has done well, but we are desperate for some pace up front.

 13.
To be honest i think if we put out the same team then we will get the same result. There is not much we can do about central defence at the moment so we are stuffed but we need to make room for Wes and a more pacey striker so either Holt or Martin would have to go and on proven form it would be Martin to make way for me
On current form I would lose Holt, but on the basis of the way that Hoolahan and Holt play together, I want to see Hoolahan and Holt on the pitch at the same time. I would give Simeon Jackson a go, he scored on the International break, and needs to get a chance in order to take that chance with both hands. Hoolahan is what makes us tick, and he makes Holt tick, he has to play - no doubt. I agree with you about the same team thing, but that''s my positive. I believe that Lambert would have reflected on that performance, and the impact that Hoolahan had on the flow of the game when he came on, and realised what we are all thinking. That is my positive!

Love the way that I have become the douche.I don''t think it is a matter of joining the Third Reich, more a matter of utter despair at your functional illiteracy. You started this by the way, thank you for teaching me a new word. It''s only fair that I return the favour and encourage you to improve on your grammar and spellings (sic). I hope that you can acknowledge that anonymity on this website is my right and priviledge and that any attempt to try and determine who I am without my blessing would contravene my privacy rights. The idea that I have to tell the world who I am because I am just about competant enough to play a bit of non-league football and got a chance that in reality I didn''t deserve and didn''t take is ludicrious. I was far too slow by the way, if you really want to know. Sorry if I have evoked some level of fascination, but I really am nobody exciting, don''t have a Wikipedia entry because I was ''insignificant'', and have never played for any team that you would ever have seen on a football pitch. Not that I really understand why you really want to know, seeing as my only claim is that I played a few games in leagues with players who earn a few hundred quid a week. There are plenty of inadequate and out of their depth players who manage a few games before heading back to the ninth tier where they belong. I know that it is easy to see that life as rosy, but there are part-time players on rolling deals earning £250 in League Two who are brought in to fill gaps in squads and enable super skint clubs (in the real world) put out reserve teams. I was one of those, any Lowestoft or Wroxham player could do the same thing. Or I could pretend that I am Ronaldinho, if that excites you more? I sell used cars now, I''m better at that and it pays more money, or do car salesmen have Internet stalkers too?
 17. It was an important game, but it was only one game. In the past Lambert has generally managed to get his team to respond well to dissapointment, and he will probably realise that we need to be playing Hoolahan. I''m hoping that he realises that we need some pace up front too. To be honest losing the West Brom game might be a positive, because the next two games are winnable. It would have done no good for us to lose against West Brom if we had trips to Old Trafford and Anfield immediately after, but we are playing two teams who we have the ability to match in my opinion. We have Ruddy back, and whilst Rudd did a fine job after a shaky start, the defence will be more settled in front of Ruddy. I''ve also been thinking about the hard games that we have coming up, after a relatively easy start (we can''t accuse the FA of rigging fixture lists, they have hardly given us a difficult start!). There might actually be some positives in playing most of our games against bigger teams further into the season, once the season gets in full swing the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal, Chelsea, etc, are going to become distracted and hopefully a little tired by the Champions League. I can remember when we beat Man Utd, they had had a lot of tough games in Europe. I''d rather us play Man Utd on a Saturday with a week of rest whilst they had played a tough Champions League group match on the Wednesday night, for example. I''ll be honest, if we don''t get at least 2 points from our next 2 games then I''ll be straight back to negativity, but we couldn''t have wished for two better games.... especially if we win one and face a Swansea with no wins. There are going to be so many twists and turns this year for us, ups and downs, highs and lows. Yesterday was a low, and we could all do with a high, but at some stage - hopefully in the not too distant future - we are going to be surprise ourselves and that could be the catalyst. A lot of ''ifs'' and ''buts'', but I''ve decided to ban myself from spreading negativity until we are 10 games in. Unless we lose our next two games, in which case I can''t make any promises, neither can any of you I suspect.

 23.

5 for me too. Wigan 3 points, Stoke 1 point, Chelsea 0 points and WBA 1 point.
I think its quite safe to say that we would all of expected 5 points on the board by now, but we all forgot the idiot in the middle, We can take heart in the fact that no team out played us, no team made us look stupid, each and everyone of them including Chelsea had help from the ref to seal the win or draw, So I think its a case of us having to learn how to cheat as well as the others.
Personally I thought that Wigan, Chelsea, and West Brom, created far more chances on goal and looked a bigger threat going forward. I haven''t seen a game yet in which I have been left feeling like we dominated the game and were fully deserving of three points. Maybe the Stoke game would have been different with 11 men on the field, but I can''t say that I disagreed with the red card. Being realistic, I think we have only been truly cheated out of 1 clear cut point, and that was the Tamas elbow. We would still have had to score the penalty though, and with us having saved two penalties ourselves this year, we can assume that there would have been a pretty good chance of not converting considering the pressure on needing to equalise at the end of a game. If Walters had scored his penalty, then we would have been cheated out of more, but he didn''t..... and Barnett was the last man even if it was outside of the area, so it was what it was, a good performance by 10 men who hung on for a valuable point.
 24.
If you remove the big glamorous clubs from the Premiership, then surely there''s not too much difference between playing in the top flight or the Championship. I for one would feel no excitement about promotion from the lower division in that event. I do agree that things were a lot better in the good old days of the old First Division, when it was not too rare to watch City beat the likes of Man Utd, Arsenal and Liverpool.
It was no different then, Liverpool league positions:72/73     1st73/74     2nd74/75     2nd75/76     1st76/77     1st77/78     2nd78/79     1st79/80     1st80/81     not top 381/82     1st82/83     1st83/84     1st84/85     2nd85/86     1st86/87     2nd87/88     1st88/89     2nd89/90     1st90/91     2nd91/92     not top 3If it was any easier to beat Liverpool during their two decades of dominance than it has been to beat Man Utd in their two decades of dominance, then it is because we were simply a better team. Of course, I''m sure that I don''t have to remind you that we DID beat Manchester United in the 2004/05 season? With goals from Ashton and McKenzie and Hucks on fire?
 25.

Need Drury back - has premier league experience and never commits unless he knows he will win the ball. Good going forward as he can interact well with a left winger. Remember how he and Huckerby mastered the left side.
Surely Tierney has been one of our top 3 or 4 players this season so far? I haven''t seen Tierney make a major mistake yet? Not only do I consider Tierney to be by far our best defender so far, not including goalkeeper because Ruddy for me has been immense, but Drury has looked past it for about 6-9 months. I wasn''t at the MK Dons game, but two people commented that they couldn''t believe how bad Drury looked. Now, if you can find us a centre back who never commits unless he knows he will win the ball, then that would be a dream right now. We don''t seem to have any kids who can play centre back, why is that? We had Dumic and Stephens at the club at one point who both looked pretty decent, anybody in the youth team? Shackell came into the team in the Premier season and was a revelation!
Thats why I feel Tierney in midfield makes sense- he has been great going forward and defending and you kind of feel Drury could almost play as a 3rd CB when we don''t have the ball... 442(diamond) with and 352 without.
For me, taking our best defender out of a so-far very shaky back four makes absolutely no sense to me. Why make a nervous and probably slightly weak back four even weaker? That''s a little like Liverpool deciding that Saurez has been playing really well up front they should put him on the right wing and start Andy Carroll every week. Tierney is at the top of his game in his natural position, moving him would be purely stupid, and frankly it would remind me of Worthington playing Simon Charlton in centre midfield or Roeder playing Darel Russell up front.
