Although at first I thought we werenât going to end up with 15 players called up, Iâve been proven wrong. We do still have a few first team players still available though, but I think this will be a great opportunity to give some of our reserves a trial. If we do end up getting knocked out straight away though I donât think it will be too embarrassing though as I think it will be more down to lack of first team availability, not poor team selection/performance. Also do we want a good cup run this season? In my opinion no - we want to focus on the league and the league only, as I think we are all desperate for us to bounce straight back up to the PL

Totally agree with you there mate

Although Iâm not entirely convinced weâll end up losing 15 players, if the game isnât moved weâll just have to play the kids. Personally I donât think this would be a disaster as it would give them some first team experience, and even if we ended up getting knocked out straight away it wouldnât be a huge embarrassment as it would more be down lack of availability, not poor team selection/performance. Also I think we need to concentrate fully on the league this season as we are all desperate to bounce straight back up, not worry about the cup.

Sounds like a good possibility as Iâve had a look at him on Wikipedia and it says that he can also play as a CB. If we do manage to go straight back up I think he might be another bargain buy if heâs only going to cost us ÂŁ2.7m, although his wages would probably be quite high as Villarreal are a team that often plays in Europe. Says he made 23 apps this season, although I donât know how much game time he got.Â

Jamal's only going to warm the bench though and he wants to go which Liverpool are probably weighing up. Will be interesting to see how it ends i'm guessing 15 million
Lewis wonât go for ÂŁ15m mate - Webber stated before the season had even ended that none of our talent would go for anything less than ÂŁ20m as despite relegation we have no need to sell and so want to keep all our talent for next season
I think what Iâm seeing is a project planned by the club to try and make us a strong and financially healthy team

1 hour ago, JF said:Undoubtedly supporters bump value. But heâs a home grown player that has international and now PL experience. 22 years old and the current PL and European champions deem him to have enough quality to add to their squad. Iâd be disappointed to receive anything less than £17 million with add ons. That is the minimum going rate I would sayÂ
I think the reason why we overrate players is because no football fan likes to see any of their best players go. However I think we all have one desire for next season: to bounce straight back up, and Iâm convinced that will be the clubâs objective

Put me into tears of laughter mate. Unfortunately I donât think weâd accept that either - wouldnât be able to afford his wagesÂ

2 minutes ago, JF said:If Liverpool want him then good luck to him, canât refuse the chance for a move like that. Personally I donât see him making much of an impact there but weâll see. But Liverpool have to pay the going rate and that is ÂŁ20 million plus or they can jog on. Why the hell should we sell a player to the Champions on the cheap?
Exactly JF - I see exactly the same as you. If a young defender in a team that has just been relegated is really good enough for both the PL and CL then why is he only worth ÂŁ10m when you see clubs of that level offering ÂŁ80m+Â
Do we want to sell any of our talent? NO
Do we need to sell any of our talent? NO
As a result of this Iâm trusting Webber to stick to his transfer policy and not let any of our talent go for under ÂŁ20m. For Lewis I wouldnât accept anything less than ÂŁ25m with 50% sell on clause

4 minutes ago, Branston Pickle said:Wtf is the NI manager on - heâs âexcitedâ at the prospect of Lewis going to Liverpool...I get that itâs good to have your players playing as high a level as possible, but heâd be a perennial benchwarmer, so how on earth does that benefit his country? What a fool.
Liverpool are clearly playing on their standing to turn Lewisâs head/get him to throw his toys around.  IMO heâs decent but not that great (yet) but they can sod right off if they think they should get him on the cheap - they are a wealthy side and should pay the going rate.  Iâd love for another side to come in and have a higher offer accepted.
Totally agree with you there Branston. Yes itâs great to have your international squad made up of players with top flight experience but does the manager really think Lewis is better than Robertson? Lewis is keen on the move as he has said he wants to play in the CL and PL week in week out but does he really think if he goes to the champions of the PL this summer he will do that? Personally I can only see him getting experience of watching and warming the bench in the CL and PL week in week out if that
If Liverpool want Lewis why can they only afford £10m for a player with PL and good Championship experience when they can afford to offer £80m+ for players with good PL and CL experience and pay loads of players wages of £200k+ p/w?
As Webber has said, we have no need to sell and want to keep as much of our talent as possible for next season so will not let any of our talent go for under £20m. For Lewis I wouldnât accept anything less than ÂŁ25m with a 50% sell on clause

Just like everyone else has said, I think we need to find an experienced striker ready for the Championship next season. Hereâs my views on our current squad:
Pukki: Ok, last season was his first season in the championship and he was the top scorer but what caused his goal drought? He got off to a flying start in the PL this season then since his toe injury he hasnât scored a single goal from open play. How will he do next season? Was he just not good enough for the PL or is he carrying a permanent injury? Iâm 50/50 with him for next season as Iâve got no idea how he do
Idah: Got a hat trick on his senior debut against Preston but do bear in mind that was the cup so were Preston fielding a weaker squad? Got a little bit of PL experience but they were really 10 min substitute appearances, although got a whole game at Old Trafford. Due to his lack of first team experience Iâm afraid I have big doubts on him and if we do go straight back up next season I donât think heâll be good enough for the PL, although Iâd love to be proven wrongÂ
Drmic: A free agent last summer. Thought he was going to be a great signing at first but was proven horribly wrong. On ÂŁ50k this season but ÂŁ25k next season. Even so, we know the club wants to get rid of him as heâs turned out to just be a waste of space. Might be good enough next season but have big doubtsÂ
Sinani: Canât see him playing up front - I thought heâs supposed to be a winger too. I also donât think the Luxembourg top flight is very strong in comparison to the English top flight - l mean look at RvW. Was the top goal scorer in the Portuguese top flight wasnât he? Scored on his PL debut for us and didnât score again all season. Think he also only ever scored once more for us, in a cup fixture a few years later
As Iâve said, Iâd love to be proven wrong on any negative views I have on our players but itâs just going to have to be a whole case of wait and see

11 minutes ago, Well b back said:Do you not add to that to get to the highest level possible and to win as much as you can. I am sure Jamal trusts his ability to become a Liverpool player and sees that he can better himself training and playing every day with the likes of Van ****, Salah, Robertson, ect. In the modern world of professional football he would be an under 23 at most clubs not about to be signed by one of the biggest clubs in the world. This move is less of a risk for him than his academy move to Norwich where overnight he made it several more times difficult to even become a professional footballer.
Do you think it would be better for him to move to the likes of Crystal Palace, still double his salary but play every week ?. In the real world I canât think that any young footballer would turn down the opportunity to sign for Liverpool ( or Man City, Man Utd, Chelsea ect ) .Â
Â
ÂÂ
If any of our players move back up to a PL club, I think it should be one of the smaller teams as I do believe they would stand a chance there. Clubs like Palace or Brighton might be ok for them or one of the newly promoted teams. I just canât see them standing a chance at any of the big teamsÂ

2 hours ago, Well b back said:Probably a 5 year contract on probably double the money ( triple what he is about to drop to ) canât see how that ruins your career.
Yes it certainly doesnât ruin your career financially itâs just I thought the reason football players became football players was to play football? It certainly can ruin your career as a player though

Having no need to sell this summer weâd never let him go for that price - Webber stated the starting price for any of our talent would  be ÂŁ20m, as we also want to keep as many of our first choice players as possible. Lewis has about 1 1/2 years worth of Championship experience, and 1 years worth of PL experience.
Farke has also warned all of our âsuperstarsâ not to think that they are superstars yet - I mean is Lewis really better than Andy Robertson? If we did accept an offer from Liverpool for him (and we would never accept ÂŁ10m) and he accepted a contract I think he would probably end up wrecking his career.
-
It was sad when the board announced last summer that they werenât going to investing in players much as it made relegation all too obvious, but it was understandable and a sensible move - also the relegation clauses in contracts. I have to admit I always have big doubts about our survival whenever we get promoted, even if we do try to strengthen our squad - what would you think if weâd spent about ÂŁ40m on improving the squad and still gone down? The main positive now is that we didnât spend much this season and have now received our first parachute payment - £100m if Iâm right?
At least our squad has had got some PL experience now and as we are now financially stable we have no need to sell, whilst Bournemouth and Watford are having to part company with their best talent.
ÂWith Bournemouth and Watford parting company with key players and Leeds, WBA and Fulham promoted it looks easy next season, but I think we need to see who we manage to keep and what our squadâs morale level is

When Bennett was with us I always rated him as an average player. Yes he was common in the CB partnership, but he was no superstar. I donât follow playersâ careers once they leave us but from what Iâve been reading it sounds like thereâs a lot of pros and cons about him. I think we need to sign an experienced CB at Championship/Premiership level, who isnât injury prone. Sounds like heâs done well for Wolves in both the Championship and Premiership. I donât think 30 is too old for a CB provided that we donât sign them on any longer than a 3 year contract - Kloseâs 32, but being at a PL club heâll probably want high wages.
-
McGovern is 36 and out of contract next summer. Heâs never been a great player for us and so I can only see him being released when his contract expires. With Oxborough and Mair both out on loan we need to sign another keeper - either on loan as backup or as a replacement for McGovern when he goesÂ
Many times in the past Iâve seen people think 2 keepers is enough but we do need to sign another. Yes 2 is enough for the match squad, 1 for the starting XI and 1 for the bench but itâs essential to have 3 in the club squad - what do we do if Krul breaks his leg/picks up knee ligament damage on the opening day of the season and McGovern gets sent off in the next game?

Â
I would honestly estimate around 15 million or so
As the board has no need to sell and want to hold on to as many of our key players as possible, Webber stated that the starting price for any of our talent would be a minimum of £20m. Donât know if that will be the case thoughÂ

32 minutes ago, NeymarSmith said:Well @cambridgeshire canary has posted on another thread that he heard we are in for Oxfords Rob Dickie? Does that fit the bill for you? What have you heard chap?
Saw the thread about us possibly signing a centre back. Yes I agree we need one but in my opinion if we are to sign one we need to look for one who isnât injury prone with either good Championship or possibly even PL experience. To find a player of that standard I think we need to start off having a look at 1st tier clubs, not 3rd tier
Ok, I donât know anything about Dickieâs career history but if he only has 3rd tier experience like I think so, then surely Famewoâs probably as good as him
-
Sounds like a great signing - from a PL club, young, home grown, with plenty of Championship experience and decent records there and also a regular international for the lower England levels. I donât know whether heâs an attacking or defensive midfielder though. Tettey is currently 34 and out of contract next summer so I think it may be to replace him or possibly Vrancic, who is currently 31 and also out of contract next summer
All I really want us to do now is look into signing a striker and centre-back of similar quality as I think weâve got more than enough midfielders for the time being. Maybe also consider looking for another keeper, as McGovern is now 36 and out of contract next summer
-
Injury prone and total failure in the Premiership this season, might do ok in the Champ next season. Was a free agent though so has only cost us his wages, and if we manage to get an offer for him I think we should take it as I believe heâs currently the highest earning player in the squad. That only leaves us with Pukki and Idah though, with Pukki touted for a move and possibly even past it following the injury he picked up in December - is he going to be challenging for the golden boot in the Champ again next season? I also still have uncertainty over whether Idah is ready for the Champ as well.
If Drmic does go I think we should look at replacing him with someone around his age and isnât injury prone, preferably from a Prem or Champ club
-
Was surprised to see Swansea beat Brentford in the first leg, although I suppose they were at home then. Looks like the Bees are going to hit back and sting the Swans đ
Would like to see Brentford go up though as I think they deserve to regarding their form in recent seasons. Though like DC has said, I think it would probably be better for us if Fulham went up
-
47 minutes ago, BigFish said:Yes why haven't they played in the day they have been with the club? Farke obviously doesn't fancy them.
BF I know itâs because theyâve only just been signed, but Iâm never convinced with new signings until theyâve made played a few games for us as in my opinion thereâs guarantee that a new player will do as well as theyâve done for another club, especially if theyâve come from a lower level side. Look at Sanchez: regular goal scorer for Arsenal, goes to Man Utd, canât even make the bench there. Remember Luciano Becchio? Did well for Leeds, we signed him, complete flop for us. Ok, Grant Holt and Dean Ashton did well for us but I think itâs best to look for players with a decent level of experience at our level or higher

10 hours ago, CDMullins said:So just to confirm,
The defence that we went up with and now have a years Premier League experience, now arent good enough and are suddenly all injury prone?
And we should replace them all with better, not injury prone, players aged 23-28 from the Premier League which are really cheap if not free?
I wouldnât say replace them all, maybe look at getting another CB as 3 of the 5 CBs as Hanley, Zimbo and Klose are injury prone, Godfrey is believed to be a possible target for a PL club, and and the only experience Famewo has is a short loan spell at an SPL club. If we do receive an offer for one of them though, we must replace with an experienced defender from a Championship/Premiership club who isnât injury prone
Why did Tettey have to partner Godfrey whilst Klose was suspended? - Hanley and Zimbo were both injured and I think it was down to Famewo being inexperienced and possibly still ineligible to play following his loan spell.
Klose and Zimbo were both injured in pre-season, made their season debuts in the League Cup, in which Klose only got injured again and didnât come back until early summer, Zimbo got injured early on in the following game v West Ham and was out for about 1/2 the season in total, and I think Hanley was out for about 1/3 of the seasonÂ

I feel you can never predict how a team will do right from the very start of the season - I mean League One: kicked off with a record 1-7 home defeat, ended up champions, then the following season runners up of the Championship followed by 3 seasons in the PL. Last season Ipswich were top of League One around Christmas but ended up failing to even make the playoffs đ
However, there is no West Brom or Leeds this season and Watford and Bournemouth are both losing some of their strength whilst I feel we do have quite a strong squad, so I think we do stand quite a good chance of bouncing straight back up - weâll just have to wait and see.
