Michael Starr 571 Posted January 14, 2013 This isn''t a direct critism of Hughton as I think he''s going a great job, but there are elements I really want to explore here.WE''RE IN A RELEGATION SCRAP NOWI am really concerned that we''re going to be sucked back into the relegation fight by the end of the month. I honestly believe that both Villa and QPR will pull up at some point soon. The next two games I cannot see us getting anything from and the bottom clubs play each other during this time, so by the beginning of February I am fully expecting us to be right down there amongst the basement scrapers.LACK OF PUNCH IN FINAL THIRD / SET PIECES OUR ONLY HOPEAs much as I like Jackson he''s not a Premiership level striker. Kane is not a Premiership striker either (at least this season) and Morison, in my opinion, is top end Championship level. I fear we are depending on Holt too much (and set pieces) and it''s a no brainer that we''ve struggled without him (or good set piece delivery)DAVID FOX!!!!I would also like to add to the voices screaming for the reintroduction of Fox in home games. Games where our possession will be slightly higher. He''s capable of switching play, therefore opening up spaces for the likes of Pilkington, Hoolahan and Snodgrass to explore. The Newcastle game was screaming out for Fox in the middle. I understand that Hughton wants to keep us tight at the back, and have Johnson and co protect the back 4. This is fine away from home but, honestly, I think we need to dictate play more at home, and Fox is the key for me to do that.FATIQUE FOR KEY PLAYERS?Lately cracks have appeared with some of our key players, I know we kept a clean sheet on Saturday but I think this is down to fatique. I think Bassong and Tettey specifically need to be rested at some point as their focus levels have dropped in recent games. We will need to put trust in our squad players R.Bennett and either Fox or Howson.SUBS / PLAN B / CHANGING TACTICS?My only critique of Hughton is his ability to change a game. Do we actually have a plan B? Are we able to introduce a player who can change a game? If so, why are we not doing this sooner? Perhaps it''s down to the limitations of the squad.I''m sure Hughton and his staff know more than I do about the players but these are the thoughts I have at the moment.
