Give wes a break

Recommended Posts

Fair enough he was rubbish last night, but he was great vs wolves, wigan, qpr and swansea and only had off days vs arsenal, villa and man city.

Think it mainly shows that he needs a good team around him, or he will not be as effective. Vs in form teams and away matches, maybe he shouldn''t be starting, but he is a main reason, why we have won and not drawn against some of the weaker teams in the league this season.

Yeah I think its fair to say Wes isn''t going to have a great game, if the team around him aren''t having a great game. If everyone is playing well enough, then Wes can shine, last night he couldn''t shine.

Lambert has ''dropped'' or ''rested'' players a few times this season, he has had to to rotate his formation, and get use out of players who perhaps deserve a first team place, yet can''t alway fit into the side. And i would think Wes could be on the bench on Saturday. Maybe a flat 4-4-2 will be the way to go on Saturday?

Wes didn''t have a great game but if the 3 midfielders behind him in the diamond are as poor as they were last night he didn''t really stand a chance.

At least he tried to get on the ball, it was like a hot potato to everybody else.

Seeing as he was being marked 2 or more players for most of the match it was always going to hard for him, especially if the midifeld aren''t going to offer him any support. He done his best, but he wasn''t going to beat Sunderland on his own. There was one stage in the first half where he managed to get past three players to find there was no one to pass to and ended up losing the ball to the relentless closing down of the Sunderland players. For the majority of the game he saw the ball being pumped up over his head, and he isn''t going to do much in the air. You could see him getting frustrated and he started to give the ball away more in the second which is why it was a good decision to bring him off. Everyone has off days though so to say he isn''t up for it is stupid. Samir Nasri hasn''t done that well for Man City this season, does this mean that he isn''t "up to it"?
