Superstitious Dave 0 Posted December 12, 2010 Apart from the scum game and one or two others we have been very poor at home this season whilst away we play relaxed, attack the other team and most away games this season have resulted in a win or an unlucky draw for us. Does anyone think the players are nervous playing at home in front of 25,000 expectant fans?P.s I think we''ll win at Coventry next week and make the play off''s as we are definitely one of the best sides in the division, just need to improve at home. LinkNR9 0 Posted December 12, 2010 I don''t think it''s anything to do with nerves, Olski. It''s just that teams sit deeper when they come here, playing two deep banks of 4 (or 5 in Portsmouth''s case yesterday) when we''ve got the ball; teams invite us to break them down, but if Hooli (and now Lansbury) aren''t having any luck we seem to run out of ideas. The answer is to get at teams down the wings when that happens and that''s why McNamee caused so much to happen yesterday for the brief time he was on the pitch. If we get in front during a match at home we tend to do much better, because teams have to come at us and they leave space between defence and midfield that we can exploit.
